Maradona was banned for around 2 years, trained for 94 and dominated in the wc. He looked like he was in better form than 90 (no injury)

    What rattlehead said is true.

I don’t know, Messi has such muscle memory, I do not think he’s going to forgot how to play v higher competition. He’s had, what, nearly 20 years in Spain and in the CL. He’s not going to just forgot it. He knows how to take it up a notch when needed.

It would be one thing if he started to gain weight and not care. He still has a lot of desire to win. You can see it in his demeanor when he plays for Miami. A lot of these dudes are super competitive. Even in card games or play FIFA. They simply do not like to lose.

Its good and bad that Messi plays in a league like MLS.

The Good is that (1) he has nothing and doesn't need to kill himself, (2) at his age this kind of league is actually good because he can avoid injuries more easily, (3) living in the country where the Copa is going to be an advantage for him, and (4) his quality of life is as good as its ever been.

The Bad is that (1) playing with this kind of collective talent can make him less sharp - that's it.

Sol we have to trust that the Good overcompensate for the Bad, and that Messi at this age knows how to be sharp and maintain high quality.

I don't think that playing in MLS will decrease his talent so much that by the WC 2026 it would be a serious concern. However, great players need to play with & against great talents.

Messi did conserved his energy alot during his two seasons at PSG but he definetely arrived at WC in great shape. He played all 7 games without getting subbed, two matches went into ET and he's still able to sprint forward till last minute of the WC final. I mean, he literally never looked tired in that tournament. Determination is definetely a huge factor.

Being a mid 30s athlete today definetely not the same as in 70s or 80s. Look at Djokovic , he's same age as Messi. GSP was 36 when he won UFC title again.

Meh I think he would be worse off at barca with the mandatory cl humiliations draining him mentally. I can't think of more ideal league than MLS for him at this stage plus with Copa AND wc taking place there

exactly, he would be shrouded in the cancer that is la liga, spanish football and defeats at barca from their championship runs and classicos.

Dare I say, welcome to the Blackhawks Macklin Celebrini?!?! I would burst out laughing and kinda enjoy the meltdown from around the league. But I think the NHL will throws the pathetic Sharks that pick. But then again... having an Original Six doing well is always in the benefit of the league.

    Cmon, Bettman, make it happen!

The Canadians teams need some love to be honest. American teams have been getting too much "push". Anyway that's antother topic.

I don't even know who the meltdown is coming from. I don't pay attention to the online discourse with ice hockey anymore. I just casually keep up to date and watch when I want.

Tbh I didn't know who this guy was, until I googled him. I use to know everything inside out but stopped following juniors some years ago.

It's better he ends up at a big 6, than some farmers market like nashville or the sharks.

The biggest travesty of this era has been the pullout from the olympics. Where we can't see this generations top talent create possible line ups to go best on best. Another reason I can't stand bettman and NHL owners.

Last year people flipped when Chicago won the rights to Bedard. Yeah, yeah, I know, that entire ordeal and whatnot... But Bedard to Chicago is the best thing that could happen for hockey. The kid very special.

And the NHL players are returning to the Olympics. 2026 and 2030 are locked in. Olympic hockey is really fun and international play in general is just intense.

Pocchetino embarrassing enzo today by putting him out there with a hernia you can clearly see he couldn't even make runs. That's not the enzo I know. He embarrassed him. Pocchetino is blind.

Amazing how some argentine coaches are so astute and phenominal, while others are clueless as a door knob.

Man, Valentin Barco is looking worst than his cornrow hairdo. just awful today against ManCity. Easily the worst defender on the pitch

Bit harsh, Man City can do that to any defender and Barco is very inexperienced, so I owuldn't be too harsh on him. As for his hair, what was he thinking??????

For his starting debut, he was decent. The mistakes that he had were due to inexperience and I'm sure he'll learn from it. Most young players would have dropped their level after a few mistakes, but he battled on which was great to see and didn't expect anything less in terms of mentality from his time at Boca.

His physicality is still a concern and he'll need to follow Zinchenko's game model to get the best out of him.

Dibu was subbed out at HT. It appeared to a hamstring or a muscular injury. Hopefully it is nothing serious.

The thought of Dibu not going to either the Copa or the WC is unthinkable for me. Benitez doesn't fill me with confidence and let's not talk about Armani. Only Ledesma and Gazzaniga fills me with confidence and it shows how much importance Dibu has on the team.

Hopefully, the substitution was only for precaution.

Rossi was also known as a penalty stopper. He’s in Brasil now. I kinda wish he went to Europe instead the Middle East.

Hasn’t Musso also had a good season?
But yeah, we need to solidify the #2.
