In before the obligatory: “The Old Wagon discriminates against people with neck tattoos or genital warts or…”
I will be boycotting, as always. Coors has a checkered civil rights history, too. . . . The boycott, however, lasted until the mid-1980s, when it was more or less ended. The boycott began in 1966 as a regional affair coordinated by the Colorado chapter of the American GI Forum and the Denver-based Crusade for Justice. These two Hispanic groups initiated a boycott due to the Coors Brewing Company's discriminatory practices that targeted Hispanics and African Americans. Additionally, they opposed the Coors family's support of right wing political causes. Soon afterward, the boycott expanded through much of the American West. By the 1970s, the boycott covered much of Coors' market area and involved Hispanic, African American, and women's rights groups, as well as labor unions and LGBT activists. The latter group opposed Coors' practice of using a polygraph test during their hiring process, which they alleged allowed them to discriminate against LGBT individuals. In San Francisco, the city's LGBT community and the Teamsters union allied to promote the boycott that involved noted gay rights activist Harvey Milk. . . . https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coors_strike_and_boycott
Coors sucks, and their beer tastes like dog pee. And Nashville are going to stomp us. Redwood Curtin and Six Rivers and Lost Coast make good beer. Also, lots of good craft beer in Colorado. Go Quakesfans!!

Nashville SC are averaging the fewest touches in their opponent’s penalty area at just 14.8 per game. Atlanta United are on top of the league, nearly doubling that at 28.3 per game. pic.twitter.com/0fo21wyxFR— Ben Wright (@benwright) April 25, 2024
This will be a good opportunity for Nashville to get better. They’ll pick up another win, their stats will look better, they’ll gain confidence. Could help get their season on track. We won’t get better until we replace Luchi. The new guy, Hernán probably won’t be available this weekend, but maybe next. So we won’t get a bounce from him, but maybe Niko and or Jack will step up big time, in anticipation of Hernán taking their jobs. Go Quakesfans!!
if you ever come out here, these are very reliable and excellent (the latter’s beers are only sold in Wisconsin):
I watched some of yesterdays press conference and my interpretation was that CL said that getting a work visa takes at least 2-weeks (if you're lucky).
Yeah I’m thinking that it will probably be more like a month before he’s playing with us. The deal just got done a few days ago.

Is this the week for Hany Mukhtar to have his first breakout game of 2024?SJ are conceding 2.66 goals/90 so if there was a week to take a flyer on the former MVP, this feels like the week. Are you picking Hany in your #MLSFantasy team in Rd. 10? pic.twitter.com/buRC2bjxrO— Dropping Points Podcast (@DroppinPoints) April 26, 2024
Yeah, probably. He looked pretty dangerous against Miami. I don't see why he can't "break out" against the Quakes.
This kind of review makes me wonder what other interesting things you've tasted in order to correctly identify crappy stuff for the rest of us.
Everyone knows no blind beer-tasting contest is worth a damn without dog pee as one of the selections.
Another good show, this time featuring Quakes GK William Yarbrough. Yarbrough is a very articulate and candid guy. As Carlos Yustis pointed out, the team has some Mexican-Americans (particularly the HG's) but Yarbrough is an American-Mexican! He says when he first came to the states his English was pretty good but he sometimes struggled to find the right words. He has no Spanish accent and sprinkles his conversation with the requisite "dude" and "man", but when he pronounces a word in Spanish you can tell it's like home base for him. He recounted some of his time with Leon - how they were promoted and wound up winning some Liga MX championships I think just as he started playing with them. About the team's start he says he actually feels embarrassed about it - that people come to support the team and the team loses. But vows that he always gives 100% every day in training and in games, and believes it will turn around. There was some talk about the "here we go again" feeling that can permeate a club when it's going bad and how they need to turn that around. Salinas is a pretty good contributor to the show - he brings some energy just like he did as a player. As for Cinco De Mayo, Yarbrough didn't even understand why it's such a big deal here, but Carlos Yustis gave a good explanation.
