It will be interesting to see how SLO and Yverdon perform. Biggest disappointment is that Swiss League matches are no longer on Fifa +
OK, so we are now 4/5 matches into the season. If you had this table, I would give you lots of Migros chocolate: Challenge League is also is quite unsettled, with Sion leading the charge for direct promotion with Wil. Promotion League is also very surprising.
It looks like a lot, but there are only 12 points from the top of the league to the bottom. That is interesting. It is also good from a sense to see that the bottom four teams are all Reserve teams from the Super League. Although I want he Servette U21 team to play at the highest level then can to help prepare the players for the full team, it is nice to see that other teams in Switzerland have enough talent to beat them.
It has actually been a pretty interesting season so far. One round left before the Christmas break. Basel has started to show signs of life, but not too many. YB has not run away yet. There could be four team within 5 points at the break.
Sion have, as expected done pretty well. After a poor start, Xamax has turned it around, but might lose their best player over the break.
It would be good to have Etoile Carouge back in the top two leagues, but Paridiso is a real surprise.
Basel is running into money issues and have stated that their current stadium is too expensive for them right now. That is not a good thing. Transfer news: Out Leonardo Zbinden a 21 year old keeper goes from YB to Etoile Carouge on a free transfer. Toichi Suzuki a 23 year old left midfielder has left LS for Kyoto Sanga in the J-League. Jonathan Dubasin a 23 year old left winger has left Basel on loan to Real Oviedo in La Liga 2. Nicholas Luchinger a 29 year old right back has retired from FCSG. In Benjamin Kololli, a 31 year old left midfielder, has left Shimizu S-Pulse of the J2 League to join Basel on a free transfer. Zachary Athekame, a 19 year old right back, has left Xamax and joined YB, but he will remain on loan to Xamax for the duration of the season.
Transfer News: Out Winterthur - Roy Gelmi, a 28 year old center back, has joined FC Vaduz on a free transfer
Huge mistake at Servette. Takuma Nishimura, Omar Rekik and Bassirou Ndiaye joined the team over the transfer period, but are not authorized to play administratively, since Servette has no place on its list. The club forgot to send an email to Swiss Football to adjust the roster. Three players Bedia (who left for Berlin), Fofana (who left for Winterthur) or Rodelin (who no longer trains with the SFC) were not omitted from the roster. As such, the roster is full and the three can not officially be on the roster. There are a few possibilities, loan someone out to another team that still has the window open.
Three losses in a row, all in one week, has put a major dent in Servette title chances. A team can not lose to Winterthur, SLO, and FCZ and expect to win the title.
Servette vs Lugano in the Swiss Cup Finals. These teams will only play among themselves the rest of the way. Servette had a chance to win the league, but their very poor run of form has caused a pretty big gap to emerge. SLO is going down unless a major miracle happens. It is so odd to see Basel this far down. GCZ should end in 5th and go into a playoff against Thun or Sion.
