Goals + Assists in the First 300 Official Games Ronaldo: 290 Maradona: 284 Mbappé: 284 Neymar: 271 Messi: 254 Cristiano: 151
Maradona, Neymar and Messi did the opposite way of Ronaldo. They were more focused at goalscoring early on their careers and became more playmaking focused later. Ronaldo has only half of 07/08 when he were more focused on goals on his first 300 games
@Trachta10 Can you send back your goal contribution rankings (assists + goals) for all the players you have, including those of the "older" players you estimated (Puskas, Di Stefano, Eusebio, Pelé, and so on) ?
Nice work mate (I guess using the new Sofascore Euros data). I might be being a bit slow but what is the Fouled% calculation based on?
It's the ratio between fouls received and fouls committed. fouls received/(fouls received+fouls committed)*100
It doesnt seem quite useful stat. It is a sort of loosely indicative of playing style, but doesnt say much
Ultimately, the won duels already include fouls. Nevertheless, it can be said that it indicates how cleanly a player plays, obviously unfair to defenders. Something I've noticed is that players who receive the most fouls also tend to have a relatively high number of fouls committed, as if there's a psychological component that makes the player who receives many fouls also somewhat more aggressive or retaliatory. But it's just speculation on my part. For example, Neymar receives more fouls than Messi, but Messi has a slightly higher percentage. Stats in World Cup-Copa America-Euro (no data for CA2007) Only WC, Maradona a lot of fouls received but also a high number of fouls commited
Messi WC vs CA (no data for CA2007) Neymar WC vs CA Cristiano Ronaldo Evolution A-Euro 2004, WC 2006, Euro 2008 B-WC 2010, Euro 2012, WC 2014 C-Euro 2016, WC 2018, Euro 2021, WC 2022
Maradona 1986 (quarterfinals, semifinals, and final of the WC) Messi 2011 (semifinals, and final of the Champions League) Something interesting, although Messi has more than double the number of accurate passes than Maradona, Messi has 204 passes out of 2013 made by his team, which is 10.13% of the team. And Maradona has 90 out of 804 passes made by his team, which is 11.19%. The result is even.
I like a percantage of team passes as a proxy of how deep and involved player is in his team. I am sure Messi had even higher percantage later on in Barca.
Neymar comparison should be with Ronaldinho Gaucho, both more or less in the same level. I think Neymar has been better than Ronaldinho for Brazil tho.
