I’m not sure Deschamps would want a player who’s supposedly not yet fluent in French either for team cohesion reasons. Some of the French players do not speak good English so the squad wouldn’t be able to communicate fully.
I still find this baffling that someone would rather play for a Country where you can’t even speak the language or not efficiently good enough over a Country you were born and raised in. Seems strange but I guess that’s the way of the World.
They're mad if they don't take Olise imo. He's a good bit better than Diaby for me. There aren't a tonne of top left-footed right-wingers around and I don't think I could name five better than Olise. He seemed to integrate very well into France U21 side at the Euros so I don't know how much concern there'd be there.
Rory Finneran continuing to impress for Blackburn u21s. Expected to leave in the summer. Newcastle have interest whilst scouts from clubs in Germany have also watched him on number of occasions. https://t.co/gSQp54T9nQ— TheSecretScout (@TheSecretScout_) April 21, 2024
https://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=51241#google_vignette Rotherham United’s Hakeem Odoffin has reportedly switched to Nigeria.
Both of his parents are from England, Finneran is eligible for Ireland through two paternal grandparents. There's an interview with his father where he seems to suggest England have never called him up. Doubt even Wales would pick a 15 year old kid who has played literally 60 seconds of senior club football. He's already playing a year up for the U17 side in official UEFA qualifiers which of course means if he wanted to represent England he'd now have to use his one switch. I recall thinking at the time Luca Connell was fast tracked. Picked by Mick McCarthy a month after he turned 18 with very few games for Bolton. The Ireland U21 coach said last month that Cannon is still considering his options, injuries have disrupted club progress. Jim Crawford also gave the impression he expects Fraser to stay in their system. I would hope the FA have at least made contact. England U20 are playing against Ireland in June so if Fraser takes part for either side that answers the question. Although with Evan Ferguson ruled out for the season they might even offer a senior spot against Hungary & Portugal. They have approached Dewsbury-Hall more than once apparently. Unfortunately not, was at a talk where a Leicester academy coach was speaking and was asking him afterwards and he said KDH. He says the FAI have tried multiple times but he has said no. It’s a grandparent— Éanna Ó Murchadha (@ITFCIRISH) September 12, 2023 I wonder if he would have accepted if Ireland had qualified for the European Championship this summer.
Another player the vultures are trying to take from us. Spurs stole Ash Phillips. Palace stole Wharton. What's the point of an academy
Maybe now he’s doing it in the Premier League but he wasn’t worth double the amount in the Championship and to be honest if Rovers were asking for 40-50 million for a Championship player then I doubt he would be in the Premier League now. Palace would instead have opted for a cheaper overseas version. They need to keep prices real in the Championship if we want to see more home grown players make the jump to the Premier League. Also you got 20 million pure profit from his sale so will help massively with the Academy I would have thought. Rovers probably have a sell on clause anyway.
Eddie Gray reveals he has tried to persuade Archie to play for Scotland but he will be staying with England.
Archie gray already stated in an interview that his only focus is England. He said he's three quarters English
They can't. The Indian government have frozen their assets. Any penny we make for the foreseeable future will be spent on wages and the general running of the club, until we have no more assets to sell and we enter administration. Partly why I want us to go down is that process will be sped up massively and we can get that lot out. Don't want to turn this into a Rovers forum though. We (England) need to make a run at Finneran at some point. I know he's provisionally cap-tied so I can't see us getting him anytime soon as it'd be daft on his part to irreversibly commit to us this early, but if it's true that the FA have never even tried to call him that's pretty disappointing. We at least need to be in contact with him fairly consistently for the next few years to let him know he's wanted, then when he becomes a senior pro the decision can be made if he's good enough.
HE KEEPS ON GOING! 😱Martin Obi gets his seventh of the game!🟡 0-7 🔴 (64)#AFCU18 | #U18PL pic.twitter.com/tNbe9zW7nD— Arsenal Academy (@ArsenalAcademy) April 27, 2024 What the f***
If he does that in senior football Denmark could have a terrifying attack with him and Hojlund. I don’t see him switching back.
Sammie will be sold in the summer. Then we have that dolloper Gallagher as our main striker. I hope we go down too
In all of my years working in football. I have never seen a striker score as many goals as Chido has! This is getting ridiculous! How is a player scoring 7 goals at u18 football! He’s treating it like he’s playing in school matches. What are the defenders doing? Are they too… pic.twitter.com/UitL0Dcq6R— TheSecretScout (@TheSecretScout_) April 27, 2024
The frequency with which we're seeing these massively lopsided scorelines at youth level is a bit of a concern imo. It can't be good for the development of both those on the receiving end and those handing out the beatings.
There does seem to have been an awful lot of thrashings even for underage this season. Mind you I remember Ellis Simms absolutely destroying the under 18 league a few seasons ago also so its not an unprecedented performance (granted Obi is younger than Simms was)
Yeah, I think you can find quite a lot of examples of young kids ripping things up at this level but the transition to senior football is another step harder and often takes time to adjust, like Simms or even Solanke. In another league but I remember that young kid at Dortmund absolutely ripping it up within the German Youth leagues but it seems he’s yet to have a big impact or adapt at senior level but he’s still 19, so still plenty of time.
