I would not read too much into Red Cafe as it is high on jokes and low on analysis with a few exceptions here and there. Valencia would be a regular and a welcome addition to the side. He will provide a traditional wide option that brings the conventional dribbling, work rate and direct play that we have lacked since Giggs was moved centrally. You mentioned four others player but they are a non-issue for Valencia:

Nani - erratic and rarely operates from the right
Park - high on work rate and movement but low on end product
Tosic - left sided and an unknown at this stage
Ljajic - 17 years old and will not join until Jan 2010

Valencia would be a starter on the right and would effectively be an upgrade on Park. The other two would compete for the left wing slot with Park being the main wing back up. I doubt we will see much of Ljajic, if at all, next season and his future is in the centre of the pitch.

The only issue with the transfer is the price. Wigan are trying to get as much as they can out of us but hopefully the deal with be concluded soon enough.

this must be a move for sure - Since Wigan announced today the offer for a player from Almeria (see Hugo and Fabian) to replace Luis antonio

No word on price tag for the winger Alberto Crusat

Looks like we'll know on Friday.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...inger-Valencia-choose-United-Madrid-week.html

Wigan chairman Dave Whelan: 'I think he is an outstanding player and he would fit in at either Manchester United or Real Madrid. There is no doubt that he will end up at one of those clubs – it's just a case of which one he wants to end up at.'

Nice choice....hmmmm....Megan Fox or Scarlett Johanssen??

Imagine... Barcelona being the third "unknown" team fighting for him .. Oh man I would go watch atleast two games a year at the Camp Nou if he goes over to Barca. Liverpool would be another great alternative as we will be a starter for sure every game and play with the likes of Gerard, Torres, Xabi Alonso, Mascherano.

It would be nice for him to go to Madrid, get an opportunity and eventually start next to Cristiano Ronaldo, among others.

If he is given chances and plays well, he will play. Besides, Chelsea, or Man U might get Ribery. Now if Valencia goes to Man U and Ribery doesn't he should get a lot of minutes.

If he goes to Man U, he will take Ronaldo's starting spot unless he plays poorly; there are many articles that suggest this at least.

"Manchester United have confirmed they intend to replace Cristiano Ronaldo with Antonio Valencia once they have completed the world-record £80m transaction with Real Madrid."

Only Antonio knows what is best for him... I'll support his choice in team...
They are both top clubs in Europe and he would fit in either club.
I wish him all the luck in the world.

Thats fine, I don't think anyone has said otherwise - but my "sub" insinuation was in reference to the possible move to Real Madrid, not Manu.

That is probably because he is "only" playing for Wigan at the moment.

You have to ask how many of them have seen Wigan play more than the two games against Manchester United this season. Very very few i suspect.

Right and not to mention the amount Sir Alex is offering for Valencia. United invested just over £12 million for Ronaldo. Of course, Ronaldo was only 18 at the time but I still think Fergie sees something in Valencia if he is willing to pay between £14-18 million. (as we all note his tenacity and athleticism)

    Speaking of Valencia vs Nani..............

According to British newspapers the Daily Mail and Mirror, Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has offered Portuguese winger Nani to Wigan Athletic as part of a player-plus-cash deal for Luis Antonio Valencia. If true, Sir Alex will be hoping that such a deal will interest Wigan Athletic more, and therefore keep Valencia out of Real Madrid's clutches.
