Hilarious that the pen is called on a fuy raising his hand to call for offside. It drives me batty when players do that when the ball is still in play
This is a much better game than last week and shows that this team, with some better pieces, would perform better than a "throw it to Benteke" style organization. Soccer is flowing, and it's only a lack of quality in the final third that is the reason we aren't ahead.
Yea and? We had a ton of chances to score, hit the post twice. That we scored off a switch by him doesn't make him suddenly good. What about, you know, all the other times we see him play.
My view of the man is based on more than a single game. It's odd that you focus exclusively on mistakes or opportunities he created in this match in your posts. He is absolutely a weak link on the squad.
You seem personally offended by him while I realize that until we have some injured players return we don't have anyone better.
I think this was a great match, win lose or draw. Initial thoughts: KDP underperformed but that's because he is growing into a starter role. He should have buried a goal or two but he was less decisive than if he came on in the 60th/70th minute to get lightning from a bottle. Looking forward to his development. Herrera is a solid player so far, liking him a lot. Peltola is weird. When players are calm and good at soccer they often come across as lazy and low effort, when they are not. I see him on the field and think "what is that guy doing galavanting around." But he doesn't make any huge mistakes, he's just a bit lumbering and not particularly speedy. I think if he can stay relatively mistake free that's great. Fletcher, I like this kid a lot, I wish him the best and I hope he gets 5-10 goals minimum this year because he seems to work hard and get into good positions, great goal. Dajome, yikes. Pressed, yea, but he gives me PTSD flashbacks to other useless forwards in our history who did 'something' well that wasn't scoring. Klich, lost a step but otherwise provides us with decent play, seems to be a good leader happy he's healthy. Hopkins, I would actually be stoked if he turned a corner under new management and training regimens to become a serviceable 60+ minute man. He seemed perfectly adequate today. Defense was fine, no one outside of herrera was a standout but the other side of the field was slow and is going to get burned if this is the lineup. Bono was fine, not great, not terrible, just there. Pirani didn't seem impactful.
Wow. Coming back from 2 down, best player a last minute scratch, no time to really change the game plan. But the attacking play in the 2nd half threatened so often. Should have won, but I'll take it.
