There's a whole family. Great exhibit. Pretty quiet here at the zoo. A few people with "I voted" stickers, but we had a big early voting turnout.
If I came around here posting all cheery and hopeful, you'd tell me to go to the ER because I must have suffered some sort of sudden cognitive impairment.
Fun fact about male orangutans - they can withdraw their penis into their body to create a pseudo-vagina for other males to penetrate.
It is good...the more people vote, the better but more importantly, huge. numbers are coming from blue cirri's or counties (Philadelphia, Detroit, Gwinnett County outside of ATL etc). 1h about an hour ago Election officials in Gwinnett County, Georgia, tell CNN they expect votes in this election to surpass the number of votes for all of 2020.Elections director Zach Manifold told CNN as of 10:30 a.m. ET, nearly 35,000 voters had cast ballots. The county needs to reach 95,000 votes on election day to equal the total turnout for 2020 (CNN) At noon the approximate count in Philly is 586k. The 2020 vote total was 750k. They are on track for a massive turnout. Just in: Detroit could hit 320,000+ votes for Harris including Election Day based on historical turnout trends. That would be an Obama level turnout. If that happens Harris is almost guaranteed to win based on how these things tend to carry over nationally. Right by me, the NOVA counties, Fairfax/ Alexandria/ Arlington are on track to go over 80% of registered voters turnout,....
Beyond what Charlie posted, there has been some previous questioning on various pods I've listed to who wonder how many of those new Trump voters really exist. The suspicion is that Trump is over-relying on them. So high voter turnout is good for Harris, et al.
There's been a lot of talk about how the Dem vs Rep turnout is shaping up, but I wonder if independent voters won't be the story of the day. Look at these numbers out of Nevada: 1853872837691633905 is not a valid tweet id
But you tell me Over and over and over again, my friend How you don't believe We're on the eve of destruction Don't you understand what I'm trying to say Can't you feel the fears I'm feeling today?
From what I understand Nevada is somewhat unique in that voters are automatically registered and, unless they specify otherwise, they are registered as independents. Sorry to put a downer on your optimism
All it would take is one threat that was ignored and then carried out, and every public employee of the town would be put to the damn sword. It's all a waste of time until something happens, and then we're all looking crazy at the guy who's supposed to help keep everyone safe. Now, what needs to happen is stoppage time. Every second that polling place had to stop should be added on to the closing time, damn the counters. and that should be baked into the procedures, timewise (citizens should be made to understand why so they don't get too antsy for a result). But they won't do that.
Two things: First, it's only optimism if you're making an assumption about how they're voting. Second, I could have cited numbers out of PA too, so it's not just NV.
