Re uniforms, which club is the kid going to be working for because it is probably best to just check in with the assignor.

VA/DC recommends yellow and black. But green is probably better than black unless you are at McLean.

But it's worth noting that we have clubs -- Fugees, Soccer in the Streets, DDY, Alianza -- that prioritize providing playing opportunities for immigrants.
*forgive the parochial geographic descriptor. Only 2 of the schools are in the city. "ITA" generally means within the circumference of our ring road: city of Decatur and much of unincorporated Dekalb County. Dekalb County is insanely diverse.

Funny -- I was just looking at the Georgia Soccer site out of curiosity. I grew up in Athens, so I was curious to see how many State Cup winners were from outside Atlanta. Basically, none.

In Northern Virginia, the sense I get is that the overwhelming majority of HS players also play travel. But I know the occasional exception.

I don't have the twitter skills to respond privately to your crowd-sourced question earlier today on twitter about varsity players and "travel" soccer. I'm connected in various ways to five high schools in "in-town Atlanta*." 100% of varsity players (who play in the spring so as not to compete with football, which is king in these parts) play some form of travel ball.

Beau, I hope you know I was very much joking with my comment in the U8 thread. Cheers!

How does a club get "nationally ranked". I just moved to the Columbus area and my daughter is playing for a club called "Ohio Premier" or "OP", which people are telling me are or were ranked in the top 15 clubs in girls soccer?

FYI, I got that stat from a goal.com article on the low scoring in this World Cup's first round matches that has some pretty interesting info it. You should check it out.

Are you saying she's only the player of the first trimester?

You and Mead make (BS) life worth living ... occasionally.

At least they stopped nominating Mia.

Thanks for the clarrification. I went back and read the article on the Impact. You're right, what an absolute joke!

No, no -- I just know a few good people are no longer in this business, so I get a little irritated when a hack like the guy in Toronto takes his job for granted with a lazy piece of work like that. Still here. Still working too hard.

      Beau,
Did you recently get let-go by USA Today? I just read one of your articles last week. If you did, that totally sucks. I'm been a big supporter of yours through the years and even had a great discussion with you "way back" in 2002 or 2003, when I got you in contact with the Bavarians of Milwaukee (the year they had a great run in the US Open Cup).

I gathered this from your message on Bill Archer's blog. Can I also ask, were you ripping on Bill's blog content or that of the articles he has posted to it?

      Peace,
      Simon Provan
