Our local Rugby team, Rotherham Titans are doing well at least. They beat Leeds at the weekend after losing to them earlier in the season. 3 games left to play.
A win from any of Brum, Udders, or Wednesday come Monday and it'll be official. And while it's easy enough to envision none of them doing so, a Rotherham loss will do the trick, as well. And that's much easier to see. Not that it matters, of course - they've been down for over a month. It's reasonable to expect that the next campaign down there will be far more enjoyable than this one was. I mean, it's gotta be, doesn't it? What an awful season. If there was a single highlight, I'm struggling to think of it.
Yeah it'll almost certainly be official come Monday. Our current form just goes back to summer recruitment and the strategic gamble that has failed so dramatically, half of our team will be looking for a new mug... err I mean club in a few short months, so they're just going though the motions and trying not to get injured at this point. If you want players to care and put a shift in you need to give them long term contracts. I'd blame Taylor for signing injury prone players on short term contracts but I doubt he could have done it without agreement from those high up at the club, which is why I was surprised when he was sacked. We seem to be in a position now where most of the fans want Liam Richardson sacked which seems unfair given what he has inherited.
First few games things looked really promising but we got robbed of results by refereeing decisions and then the whole recruitment strategy came unglued and injuries set in but yeah it seems to have been one disappointment after another.
LOL @ Millwall. Shame about Birmingham winning I was hoping they would go down after the shenanigans with appointing Rooney when they were doing so well.
I was reading the Owlstalk thread about last nights match, some fans calling us inbreds etc when half the fans posting were from Rotherham. Awkward lol. Anyway we lost as expected, it sounds like it was another dire performance and the match was broadcast on Sky Sports. If you can't play well in a televised match chances are you're just crap.
Confirmed. haha #StevenageFC confirms that Steve Evans has left his role as First Team manager to join Rotherham United, effective immediately.— Stevenage FC 🔴⚪ (@StevenageFC) April 17, 2024 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐄𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐬, 𝐡𝐞'𝐬 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤! ✍#rufc | #ForeverTogetherForeverProud— Rotherham United (@RotherhamUnited) April 17, 2024
Good news for Wednesday I suspect, if anyone can get a bunch of wage thieves fired up for a game of football it's Steve Evans.
Oh, aye. I was 100% reconciled to Rotherham getting turned over on Saturday. But it's not difficult to envision them getting something from Brum - who are still shite, mind - now. He'll go up a notch in my eyes if that one goes well.
Are you a Steve Evans super fan now? we still had two wage stealers go off injured first half (even after a 20min break) but at least we showed some more effort.
Well, there's no doubt in my mind that there's no result v Brum without the managerial change. So there's a bit of gratitude there, for sure. 'Steve Evans super fan', though ... ... that might be stretching it.
