For some reason I can see Man U coming in with a big bid. Just a gut feeling.

Any of the top 6/7 EPL team can afford him; Top 5 EPL team goes to champions league next year so take your pick .

Man U is a desperate club that keep making bad purchases, like Chelsea.

I hope Arsenal makes a move for him, if it's an EPL club. Looks like Arteta is making quite a run there. It's going to be an interesting next 5-6 years for Arsenal, if Arteta sticks around.

There is spending money and spending it wisely and Chelsea and ManU just spend with seemingly little planning. I hope McKennie has learned from his Leeds misadventure that the right fit is more important than a bit more money. If Juve don't increase their offer I can see him moving on but maybe don't go to the highest bidder but like Pulisic a good bid with a great fit.

He could sign with an MLS club and make EPL-type money, and I would actually prefer that over him going back to England.

Luckily Weston has higher standards for himself. he's not going to go train at MLS tempo after years at Juve. That would be a terrible move for his career and he knows it, money be damned.

Could a Sevilla or Atletico Madrid afford/make use of Wes?

    Who couldn't?

The question really is does a club need him. He's been rotator or depth for long enough. Time to go where he'll be the main man.

He might not be the "main man" but he has the 3rd most starts and minutes for Juventus this season among field players. That seems like more than depth or rotation.

Yeah, he's definitely a core player. And he sort of gets to play the same role/position every game, so that's a nice change from his Germany days.

The only reasons to leave are if Juve is going to fall apart, or because of how they rated and treated him the previous season - both of which are certainly worth considering. Being a core player on one of the best teams in one of the best leagues in the world is not one.

Well and money. We fans don't care, but Wes certainly should!

I will take money anytime if was him. Especially his age. This is going be his best pay day for sure. Basically any champion league team.giving him 2x more, he's gotta take it.

I’d love to see a CCC MLS team fielding Wes.

In which case, Juve offered him a pay cut because they're clinically insane, they're flat broke or because Wes has knocked up the president's daughter. :whistling::whistling:

Joking aside. the story makes no sense unless Juve have an upgrade on Wes coming through from the primavera and plan to start him next season. Even then, there's the little matter of finding someone who can afford Wes, has a gap that he will fill and that he's willing to move to. Not easy to get all 3 at the same time

They might just be dead broke. Between the loss of UCL revenue this season, being fined nearly 25 million dollars and sinking a boatload of salary into immovable players like Pogba, Locatelli and others they are probably underwater year over year.

If they need a cash infusion, they've got like three guys they can really offload for cash, maybe four or five I'd think. Weston is certainly one of them. Maybe Weston, that young striker whose name I forget, Vlahovic, Rabiot and probably another player or two I'm forgetting. But the list isn't long, it's not like they have a bunch of extra assets to sell off. All those guys they would need to sell are regulars.

Juve just needs to sell their rights to Juve Studios to some Arab wealth fund for $75M like Barca did. Pull those levers…..

    I'd forgotten about those factors.

Makes an awful lot of sense but it's hard to see how Juve would recover from a firesale of the likes of Wes, Vlahovic or Rabiot within the next 5 seasons.

Those primavera players will have to be good.

So will @usnroach 's whiskey supply

Still doesn't explain why the offered an extension with a paycut. Maybe it was part of some pro forma ritual to partially placate the fans while letting Wes know that offers will be taken seriously

It amazes me how many high level clubs don't appear to have a competent CFO.

Keep in mind…in the grand scheme of things…even the larger clubs are basically small or midsized businesses. A billion in revenue barely makes the fortune 1000. Couple that with the tendency of clubs to trust the business and operations side to ex players coaches etc….and members voting for club presidents…and you end up with terrible decision makers with authority to make terrible decisions.

They may have wanted to give him an offer they knew he would reject so they would have an excuse to sell him for money they clearly need.

Though it wouldn’t the first time he was under appreciated at Juventus.

The funny part of these levers is in some instances the money never arrived. With one lever in particular they pulled it twice two summers in a row and both times they never actually got paid out.

Sure hope those rumors about United are way off though it would great for him to return and repair his name, I want him to stay at Juventus or try La Liga.
