Haha, remember what happened in the Eurp 2016 qualifiers between those teams in the match in Serbia? Flag with a drone, etc?
I mean Slot could very well be right. Chiesa was always getting injured and struggled to stay healthy in his last couple seasons with us. I have a feeling that Slot is correct.
Not only that but even this past summer in Euro'24, despite not being in the same Group, both sets of fans happened to be in the same city at the same time and they clashed. As well, Switzerland kinda got caught up in it when at World Cup 2018, when Shaqiri (an ethnic Albanian) of Switzerland scored against Serbia he made an eagle gesture. Something similar 4 years later in Qatar, but not as heated.
Zaniolo with another. I think Gasp is doing what he did with Scamacca last year where he kept him on the bench to get fit and learn how to play and then exploded second half of the season. At least I hope but it's looking more and more promising.
Yeah off a cross from Bellanova as well but Zaniolo is and always will be a fool and you don't win with too many of those guys unfortunately.
It was against a weak team. As I wrote not too long ago, need some consistency in the lineup to build a core. Can't keep switching players in and out of the Lineup. But the 10 spot would be the spot to do it as it's a weak point. Sottil would have to he healthy and keep it up long term.
I can't believe I am saying this, but lately Zaniolo has much better finishing than Retegui. He even had a few offsides goals recently where he was 1v1 on the goalie and still had beautiful finishes. Retegui seems to always screw up a 1v1 just like he did with Italy. Retegui is better moving the ball around and holding up play tho, but has fallen out of the pecking order with Gasperini.
Juve ********ed up by not keeping Chiesa. Losing to flippin Venezia of all teams at the Allianz. What a disgrace. Now a PK. Hold on. EDIT: Vlahovic converts his PK on the last Minute of the match. Thank God. I didn't like his technique. Still a crap team. This team has fallen off bad.
Anyone know the plan with friendlies between now and Germany two legs in March? Do European teams even play friendlies anymore? Are we just going to roll into March against Germany in a series tied to semi-important implications with only a couple days practice?
Friendlies have been greatly weened out. Except of course pre-tournament matches, like the ones against Bosnia and Turkey ahead of Euro'24. Last March Italy played those 2 Friendlies against Ecuador and Venezuela in the USA No Friendlies prior to the UNL QF, no.
Chiesa moves from the Injured list to the bench. Calafiori out injured. Really need a #10 to take the next step. On that note, it appears that 17 YO Matteo Liberali could get the start for Milan today in the Posticipo. I may have to tune into it just for that.
Vincenzo Italiano was ecstatic that Bologna beat his former Fiorentina team. Wonder what happened with him and Rocco Commisso?
Gasperini called out Zaniolo after the game. I couldn't quite tell if he was pissed at what he thought was an over-celebration or lack of work effort. He wasn't happy despite the goal.
Confirmed. Mattia Liberali in the Starting 11. Milan up to 2 Italian's in their Lineup. Unchartered waters.
I let out a small laugh because this is the exact same comments Pulisic fans write. He rode a nice tackle to break free just now but his pass to Leao was short and Leao was remonsrating about it. Not needed. Tell you what though. This kid from Spain, Alejandro Jimenez, is good. He's 2 years older than Liberali but has Theo Hernandez played a match better than Jimenez has this season? What a talent.
Camarda on for Liberali. A shame it was Liberali to make way. An OK appearance for Liberali in his first ever start.
Yeah hard to judge when the entire team failed to create any clear chances against a solid Genoa who have become very stubborn under Viera.
Looking at one outlet, it has Liberali as 2nd worst on the day (amongst the Starters). Rafael Leao the worst. I thought his decision making was fine, seemed to make the correct pass but small things like letting the ball get under him and subsequently out of bounds, instead of collecting the pass cleanly. This was Emerson Royals best performance at the club. Alejandro Jimenez rated as second best. Both of those ratings deserved. FWIW, all subs didn't fare well and below Liberali's rating. Including Alvaro Morata.
Bad news for calcio this weekend as Monza lose to Lecce and Hella wins as well. ...Monza is really struggling this year under Nesta. He needs to be sacked soon enough before they find themselves too far behind the relegation zone. Really need one or two of Udinese, Lecce, Verona in serie b next year
the league is very difficult this year teams like Monza and Venezia play well enough but there is so much parody in the bottom half and the top half is just picking up points against everyone that there are only scraps left over. In the end it's a good thing it shows how much Serie B has improved. If we went to a 18 team Serie A you could see some big names relegated. Look at Roma they are doing well in Europa League and are barley above the relegation zone in Serie A.
Verona, Lecce, and Parma are on my wishlist to go bye bye. Udinese I am trying to hold out hope for Lucca. Only reason.
