You're right, those guys were cut when they needed to be, Thompson was held on a nostalgic clown act. Loveable guy, uncircumsized penis and great community man, great tekker, and top 50 clown of all time with the other clowns, and Donovan. :ROFLMAO:

NO! 2001 I drank some beer, but didn't feel a need to get hammered after every game. Yeah, that was a much better season.

This year might be, if we're lucky, as good as '17 or '23, but we won't be winning MLS Cup or even making a deep run. More likely, we miss the playoffs again, but not as embarrassingly as last season.

    Go Quakesfans!!

Spotted in a tourist shop? Which got their hands on it before the official release? Not likely; that has got to be one of the ugliest jerseys ever.

Also, we're supposed to be getting a new shirt sponsor? That would cover up most of the "collage" to make it even more pointless. Someone caught a peak of the very top of a jersey on a player or something and it had that kind of pattern. So it's probably a real thing. Now the question is it going to be our actual official jersey or just an item for sale.

The Quakes may move up the standings but they remain one of the bottom teams in MLS in terms of pretty much everything design related from their crest to almost every jersey or other merchandise items...

Well, both team have BEEN broken records (Miami - with signing $$$ stars, the Quakes - with losing) so that is hardly a surprise!

MLS Designated Players: Which Clubs Got the Most Out of Their Stars in 2024?

It’s hard to be complementary of one of the worst teams in league history, but Cristian Espinoza was at least respectable. Hernan Lopez was good in moments, and could improve with better structure around him.

Carlos Gruezo was… there. With Chicho Arango coming in as a DP this winter, he looks to be the odd man out.

Should probably add a per dollar figure to those stats.

"...but Cristian Espinoza was at least respectable" o_O I think better than just "respectable" - I'd say at least "good". He pretty much single-handedly put us 6th in DP assist contributions. Only Hernån added to the total, with just 2. Plus Espinoza works hard on both sides of the ball, and he started every game for the 2nd year in a row and rarely came out.

Gruezo contributed a fair number of minutes, but no goals or assists, and we know that those weren't great minutes. He's taken 31 shots since he came to the Quakes, and those are not generally speculative long bombs, they were generally mid-range, and even one PK! 0 goals.

I sometimes thought that Gruezo's occasional wayward shots outside the box, especially in corner kick situations, was his way to get the ball away from our own goal as far and as soon as possible. Thus, he would have less to deal with.

Yeah, maybe he was tired and wanted time to get back into position :). His shooting is really bad, and the one time we gave him a PK to take...terrible. I could have saved it - easily.

I think there were times during the Covelo / Luchi era (mostly Covelo?) where I think Monteiro would take a really wild shot from outside the box just so we could go into our high press. That was my theory anyway. There didn't seem to be any chance he'd score and he didn't seem to care. He normally didn't take those kinds of shots, and after he did I think we'd generally go high press. It's not a bad strategy actually. If we can't break down a defense, get them spread out on a restart and see if you can win the ball deep in their half. We scored some goals that way, and Monteiro was a chief instigator in that press. He was not a bad ball thief, and Hernán is pretty good at it too.

Season ticket holder question. My wife informed me last night that we had to "opt in" to receiving our season ticket holder gift (scarf). We were astonished that we were asked to "opt in". She is going to have a word with our rep, but really, are the Quakers trying to set the bar lower?
