Baggio...........in hindsight of the WC, should he have been included? I'd say Delvechio goes out and Hubner comes in, and Di Livio goes out and Fiore come in...........discuss

Baggio should have been selected. He scored more than 11 goals last season, and only played only half of the season.

Roby said he will try to make the 2006 team. I think thats too much. He should just finish his 2 year contract with Brescia, and hopefully Trap will call him up for Euro 2004.

Trappatoni's the problem. I would have loved to have seen Baggio picked but the reason they didn't go far was the coach. He played not to lose as opposed to playing to win.

In my mind, Italy was the 2nd best team in the tournament but failed because Trappatoni got in the way.

Baggio or no Baggio, Italy had plenty of attacking power. But it was reigned in for the entire tournament.

    i agree,

di livio has heart but is ultimately ineffective,
gattuso is good at holding if the azzuri are up a few goals,
but no real mid-field creativity in that guy.

baggio would have been nice as a super sub or something,

and fiore was one of my favourite rising young players, what happened? they put zanneti and pannuchi on the squad to punt the ball around and do little in the middle, when fiore would add some much needed playmaking.

Fiore had an iffy 2001-2002 season. I still would have put him on the team though. I can't see how trap is still coach...

problem was lack of quality midfielders who could control the pace, not lack of quality forwards

    Fiore...YES YES YES!!!!
    Ambrosini... why not?
    Liverani...a possibility

Hübner has an "impossible" temper according to every coach who's had him under him,the real reason no big club has ever signed him;since he would have been a sub in those teams anyway, why go through the hassle?

and look what the croatian old farts have done in the WC... those national superheroes playing in small clubs or lower divisions but ready to take over the world, according to their fans.

there's no obvious replacement at hand, and beating Azerbaijan...well,i could coach Italy to those achievements
