I thought I start an 1. FC Nürnberg thread since I didn't see one last season. Are there any other Nürnberg fans out there or am I the only one? :)

Have we made any moves in the off season? I don't think I've seen one transfer.

Hey man! I like 1. FCN! I lived in the Nuernberg area for most of my almost 15 years in Germany and while BVB is my "Lieblingsclub", FCN has a place in my heart too.

They made me very angry with some stupid moves they've made over the years, but I always wind up cheering for them unless they are playing against Dortmund.

They've made plenty of moves this off-season and I think most of them have been good moves.

    Here's a list:

    Zugänge/Incoming:

Benjamin Lense (Arminia Bielefeld - German Right Wingback (Defense), Loads of potential. I wish Dortmund had picked him up.)

Ivan Saenko (Karlsruher SC - Russian Striker; Loads of potential, some personal baggage)

Jan Polak (Slovan Liberec - Czech Midfielder, Has 7 Caps)

Chhunly Pagenburg (1.FC Nürnberg Jugend - Right Wing)

Jawhar Mnari (Esperance Tunis - Tuniesian Midfielder, Has 22 Caps, impressed in the Confederations Cup)

Javier Horacio Pinola (Atletico Madrid, ist ausgel. - Spanish Left Wingback (Defense) Loan deal from Atletico Madrid)

Adel Chedli (FC Istres Ville Nouvelle - French Central Midfielder, Don't know much about him, but FCN definitely needs help at that position.)

Nurnburg as definitely on the up...they were able to keep Mintal and they got some nice players in. Polak sounds intriguing to me.

Excellent..I'm not alone. Thanx for the transfer updates footyfan. I'm excited about Lense. He did well with Bielefeld.

Nice to know the club is trying to improve. It would be nice to see them closer to the top of the table.

What is the source of the personal baggage just out of curiosity?

Haha, finally. That's the one and only thread. :)

i think we made some good moves this season...saenko seems like he's going to be a good surprise...from all of those...lense seems to be in the starting 11, finally a sideback that also is going forward...attacking a bit...pinola...not sure...he seems good, voted best leftback in argentinian league...finished 3rd with his club there...but still needs to get into the mentality here (mandra our last "gaucho" was quite a flop )

Mnari and Chedli seem very decent, those guys can hold the ball definately...i am especially surprised about Chedli, seems a very strong player that got himself into starting eleven on the left midfield

Polak, simple and easy, our best transfer.Czech Internatioal, 24 years old, one of the best players last season in his homeleague.can play good passes and also finish (7:1 against andorra, WOW).

Pagenburg is a big talent, Bayern wanted him 2 years or something back but he said NO :D :p he'll be our new joker since kiessling seems to be on a run into the starting lineup, 13 goals in the pre season matches, pretty impressive.we will have some good fighting for the attacking positions with vittek, schroth, saenko, kiessling, pagenburg.

About Mintal:I am sure he won't score another 24 Goals, but is easily able to hit the back of the net 10-15 times...we will see...it's good for him to have some better players in defensive midfield with mnari and polak...

btw, since larsen left...what you think who will be our new captain?i am not sure, i'd vote for polak but he is absolutely new into the team.so my first choice is cantaluppi (i love that guy) or schroth.expierenced leaders, both of them.

i am allready angry remembering that i will miss the first season match, not at home so i can't visit the stadium... my first game of the season will be against bayern than.

hope he will focus on what he can do really good, playing football.he allways wanted to be in a first division squad, so now he can show if he is good enough.

A good trainer like Wolf should be able to help him. If he can, FCN has one of the better young strikers in the BL.....

Thanks for the link Op_M. Turns out I know more German than French, but Google translation helped a lot.

The Game against Strasbourg ended in a 0-0 tie. 1. FC Nurnberg is still unbeaten in the preseason campaign.

    Sorry for the late infos.

was a pretty boring game, ended up 0 - 0 again.Mintal got a break since he had some problems with his toes, we had 3-4 good chances but didn't take them.overall i am happy that our defense seems to work and line up in a good way.pinola and lense were the most active and visible players on the pitch.

    and another good news:

seems like hajto is finally gone, signed a 2 years contract at southampton.
