We're all just unwilling passengers on a runaway train to doom and annihilation. Brief spasms of joy are only there to point out the total hopelessness of all human endeavor.
Crew are one of the few teams we can beat right now (the other one being Chicago). Conversely it'll be that much worse if we lose.
Honestly, I kind of hope we lose. Otherwise the Revs can claim that they've turned a corner. Better to embrace the horror (so as to fix it).
if we win, we win but lose a chance to get a new coach. if we lose, we also win because it'll be that much more likely that we get a new coach. So we're in a no-lose scenario! also in a no-win scenario. and possibly a no-Nguyen scenario.
I want to see us win, if only to slowly round into form (if that's even possible) before the USOC final. Plenty of time to deal with Heaps in November.
But that's the problem. For the Revs, there is always "plenty of time" to do whatever. If they can Heaps the day after the season ends, the whole off-season will be as productive as the Summer Transfer Window, since there is plenty of time to get a new coach. It can't take that long to find a guy who meets the Revs' exacting standards, can it? Besides, the team will be fine. With Koffee and Kouassi and all the other returning players (minus whoever we lose in the expansion draft), we should be fine. This team just barely missed the playoffs, and if 6 games had gone the other way, they would have been right in the thick of it! On the bright side, with no new players to integrate, everyone should be in camp with plenty of time to gel.
The Revs better win this one, because they have to go cross country to play Wednesday in San Jose, then come back East and play in New Jersey on Sunday. I don't see them winning either of those... Ten games left in the season. The Revs are 3-6-1 in their last ten.
I am onboard as long as Heaps is replaced with an experienced, external respectable coach no matter what happens in the USOC final.
New England Revolution v Columbus Crew Gillette Stadium (7:30pm ET) REF: EDVIN JURISEVIC AR1: Gianni Facchini AR2: Brian Dunn 4TH: Chris Penso
For all the problems Columbus has had this year, they don't seem as thoroughly demoralized as the Revs. The Revs could be reaching some new nadir in this game. Won't that be fun.
They've said all the right things this week. I fully expect a win. Of course, that will get some Revs fans thinking all is right in the world again.
Faulkner never died, he never even faded away, he just gave us the gift of Time that we might never forget that Victory is the illusion of Philosophers.....and Fools.
well dvr'd the game and just caught up. First goal Tierney was too far up field and did not have the speed to close. looks like JoGo could have cleared it but thought about maybe Brad had it. Second goal woodbury taking is time and pays for it. Not sure why JoGo went for the ball and left two players all alone in the middle but again stupidity is the name of the game
