I am considering getting my indoor badge and wanted to take a look at the laws for indoor. Anyone know where I can find that?
Indoor rules can be found on the MISL website. Also, US Soccer should have them posted, as well as, the Futsal Laws of the Game on the US Soccer Referee page under Laws of the Game. Futsal is very much different from Indoor soccer.
guess I'm the one who looks stupid then I've never seen any kind of indoor soccer game, and always thought futsal and indoor were the same thing. The more you know
Futsal is played on a basketball court (more or less) without the baskets, and indoor soccer is played on a hockey rink (more or less) without the ice.
I can think of at least four: 1. Futsal. FIFA-sanctioned. No boards, played on a hard surface with a "flat" ball. "Penalty shots" starting with the sixth fould of the half. Rules are at FIFA (http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/affederation/generic/51/44/50/spielregelnfutsal_2010_11_e.pdf) or US Soccer (http://www.ussoccer.com/Referees/~/media/FF348A2756B24F7D99EB41E6D52A9463.ashx) 2. "Indoor Soccer". At least USSF sanctioned. Boards. Blue cards. Oddly, I wasn't able to find the rule set at ussoccer.com, but the Kentucky State associaiton has a PDF of the 2006 rule set posted: http://kyreferee.com/PDF/2006IndoorRules.pdf 3. "US Indoor Soccer". A different sanctioning body from USSF. Has rule sets for both boards and no boards, youth, et c. They list a futsal rule set, but I haven't looked at it to see if it is FIFA or not. http://www.usindoor.com/sport/soccer/rules/ 4. The 8 billion local facilities that have their own stinkin rules.
No kidding. No sliding, ceiling net is out, ceiling net is out only if it effects the flight of the ball, goalie drop kicks are okay, goalie drop kicks are not okay, everything is IDK, use both DK and IDK's as normal, you can score from a kick off, you can not score from a kick off, YC you must sub for 2 min, YC you dont have to sub, RC play down for 5 min, etc. etc. (same complex rule changes over last 2 years...). This site is interesting (and I know I'm spoiled) they have the hockey rink turf fields, AND a full regulation size turf field. The other site I referee at is also a full regulation turn field under a dome. To date, no player has hit the "ceiling", but I imagine a "Play On!" if one ever does. I do my best to not referee at the hockey rink sites/fields, those boards and small fields are just trouble-a-brewin with adult and older youth.
My sons and I have played at many different locations around San Diego County, and one son now refs some days, plays some days at the SportsPlex in Santee. Almost all the "indoor" fields around here are actually outdoors which leads to some additional rules dealing with the weather. In the Skate Palace in El Cajon (an ice rink converted to a roller rink converted to an indoor soccer rink, and now sadly a furniture warehouse) the ceiling, girders and lights above the playing surface were "out" with a restart at the nearest blue line, and hitting the lights intentionally was a penalty. The SportsPlex in Poway recently gave up the season-ending playoffs for the top 4 teams in each league because there were too many fights in those games.
My latest blog, a brief condensed version of indoor rules, as I have had a reason to study them lately.
