Kojo (10 am) is having a call in about sports. Granted, the Sox may be dominant on the air. However, if you all could call in to kindly and enthusiastically remind folks that we have our own cinderella/comeback story developing right here that would be good. Also, it is likely people will be calling to bitch about the cost increases to the baseball stadium. It would be a good time to casually mention that DC United will be building their own stadium, paying with their own dollars (not sucking at the teet of the DC tax and revenue office) and wouldn't it be a great way to show how much the DC tax payers appreciate this kind of fiscal responsibility by heading out to watch them kick some serious metro stink ass on Saturday! Cheers, Tim
Kojo comes on at noon. Diane Rehm is 10am. The sports segment is listed first for Kojo's show today, so noon-1pm is probably the time period, rather than 1pm-2pm.
I want to clarify a few things: 1) Kojo's show is on at noon, not 10 am. The "Sports View" segment begins at 12:06 pm. It appears to last 1 hour. 2) You can call in to the show at 1-800-433-8850. I've done this in the past and been on hold for 20 minutes. So, prepare accordingly. 3) You can email questions to kojo@wamu.org 4) You can use the contact form 5) Kojo's last name is actually spelled Nnamdi. I left out the silent "n". 6) Be nice, don't whine, don't criticize baseball in anyway, don't insult the host, don't call in if you're drunk...this is public radio after all. Pretend like you're courting swing voters, so don't start out by insulting another sport, whatever you do. Cheers, Tim
Tim, this is an EXCELLENT idea! If you can't call in (work and all) do use the form and send in a question or comment. K
if you're drunk at noon go get a job ya bum bump, send in email, remind them about actual champion team in this city
I simply sent them a "promo email" of sorts, mentioning the history of DC United along with the playoffs their play as of late, and mentioned to bring the friends, family and passion for an exciting and inexpensive look into the future of this wonderful sport, blah blah blah. Also plugged the supporters clubs....of course
I just sent a general note asking if he can remind listeners about our own hometown heros, how they're making serious run for 4th cup, how they won in NY, when second game is etc And I thanked him for doing great job, I sure hope he does cos I never heard the show
Question sent. With my arcance technology, I don't think I'll be able to pull the webcast in, so others will have to tell me if he addresses it on the air. (It's about whether or not they'll block the DCU stadium).
Yeah, it ain't exactly the Daily Show, but he gets the best daytime radio audience for that station. He also got a very good set of sox related plugs in during morning edition, which IS the most listened to program in the morning. I'm betting there is a small audience bump today on his show. Worth the effort. Cheers, Tim
I've always wondered if there are more MLS fans in America, or more people who listen to NPR and college talk radio in the afternoon. Could be a close call, and there'd probably be a lot of overlap clouding the numbers. Also, remember when Mathis was on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart (who actually played at W&M in the 80's) back after WC2002? I think it would be excellent if Kevin Payne or someone from United could be invited onto the Kojo Nnamdi show, or at least call in. I'd really like to hear an update on the SSS by 2007, what with all this baseball and stadium distraction going on.
I think WAMU has a larger than average listener base than most public radio stations. Kojo is great. I've been listening to him for years and cannot figure out for the life of me which way his politics lean. I still miss Derek McGinty, though.
Well they covered it for a few minutes. The younger guest brought some facts with him, and Kojo knew that Freddy has 5 goals this season. Short but sweet. And better than nothing?
You can listen on line though. Not much yet outside of what has been posted already. He welcomed people to call in a talk about soccer as well.
