I think he deserves his own thread. I'm sure he'll leave this window after the stellar tournament he's had. What a cool player. I'm a big fan
Porto? nah, he might as well stay in Brazil. He's 24 and I'd rather he go to La Liga or Serie A to further develop his skillset. I think he's mature enough to bypass the feeder leagues.
I think he would do well there and would go to a bigger team after that. I am afraid if he goes directly to a big team he will eat bench or get loaned off to a smaller team anyway.
If he was coming from Atll Huila maybe. But the Brazilian tournament is just as challenging and they play big copas as well. He's not 20, he's 24 and about to start to go into the prime time of his career. He can technically also be benched in Porto or get loaned off, no guarantees in this game. We have enough product on the street in all major leagues, a top 15 NT ranking, a Copa finalist to warrant a ticket somewhere bigger.
I think it is less likely he is benched at a team like Porto but they had Lucho on the bench so you never know. If he does go to a major league I will say Italy might be best.
prefer a mid table team I. Italy but they are going to want a lot for him. Porto is like Mexico you do well and they want ridiculous money for you. If you do bad they spit you out. Rather he goes to Genoa and then makes a jump to a bigger Italian team
Italy is broke he's not going to a team like Genoa from Palmeiras, I doubt they're gonna sell him for peanuts. He and Arias are both really good players who can play in any league and for top teams, if he goes to Italy it's probably one of the best teams with more money. Really would be a waste to see Arias and Rios who have been 2 of the best players in Brazil nearing peak ages go to a stepping stone club, hopefully there's a club who has vision and gets a good price on a top player.
This guys out of Brazil for damn sure. Reports all over the place coming out of Italy. Three big teams already have made formal inquiries about Rios. The alleged teams are Fiorentina, Roma and AC Milan.
Roma sucks and Ac Milan is broke but man would be tough to cheer for either team. Hate Roma most of all tho
I just hope where he goes they don't try to shackle him too much. He's the type of guy who needs freedom to dribble and do his thing, too rigid a manager and I think they may not like him in the right environment with someone who appreciates his skillset this guy will fly.
Even though it probably would take longer for him to settle down in EPL I still prefer him going there. If he does well he would become twice the player he is today. I just love the intensity and speed of the EPL, and the refs don't give freekicks for nothing or fall for simulations. In Italy the success would be guaranteed I think and with short adaptation period. But Italy are a bit like in the Copa, players whining and looking at the ref all the time. So there are pros and cons with both countries. I hope he won't go to spain, I'm not certain he would do well, just a feeling after seing other Colombians have a hard time there.
I get the same feeling about Spain but ultimately it depends on the player and the club. It’s not like we haven’t had players succeed there like Falcao, Bacca, Lerma and Mojica for example. But I think for the function we need Rios for, yes EPL would benefit us for sure. I’m afraid it might be a bit too physical for him though. He seems to go down fairly quickly but then again maybe England will help bulk him up just a bit and become a little less whiny (South American football trait) My ideal destination for him would probably be a mid-tier EPL team to guarantee playing time or a top tier Italian team.
https://www.colombia.com/futbol/eli...rios-fuera-de-convocatoria-de-colombia-479726 I have no idea if this is true. But I guess we will find out in the coming weeks. They are claiming the palmeiras coach is being an a-hole and will not release Rios for the qualifiers. That Rios wants to leave for europe and is unhappy with the clubs decision to want to keep him for another year. He has turned in poor performances with the club last games or not getting playing time. They are behaving really stupid. The player is 24 and is not getting any younger. If they let him leave now everyone will win. The player will be happy and turn in good performances, the club will probably make twice as much money on him today than in a year. In a year they can be happy if they offer 10 million or they bid on him at all. They let Endrick leave who is a teenager but a player that is older and need to leave immediately they want to screw with. And as stated not only the player will loose but the club as well. With the money they get for Rios they certainly can buy some great local talent to fill his shoes.
Does that mean that the club is obligated to release him? If so the article is fake news, at least in that respect.
Yeah they have to release him. I think this will all blow over. He’s too good for them not to play him
If he has not played any minutes since the Copa it does make it less likely he would be called up though. But I'd still call him.
