http://www.dispatch.com/content/sto...t/2016/05/26/0526-rock-on-range-location.html I'm having a deja vu feeling.
They have had Rock on the Range at other cities, Toronto and Dallas but it never really caught on in those cities.
I wonder how important the whole Rock on the Range was to Precourt buying the Crew? Figured he could buy the Crew and take the losses there and make them up with events since it included Crew Stadium?
I am surprised there hasn't been some musical reference by Precourt on this matter via Twitter yet. Or has there? I haven't looked... It's okay, let Rock on the Range move to Cleveland. Just replace it with Shoegaze at the Fre. Probably wouldn't miss a beat in ticket sales.
Over on FB, there's been some "what-if" discussion about ROTR moving to OSU. They certainly have the land with Ohio Stadium and the surrounding lots. There's certainly enough parking with the west campus lots being included. Whether or not they want to is another matter.
The only thing Ohio State cares about is making money, so if enough can be made, they'd be happy to host it.
While you're quite right, there's more to it than that. Do they want to interrupt a Friday business day on campus with 40k (more?) people at an all-day event? What would ROTR mean for hospital-related business and patients? When they hosted that Thursday night football game a few years ago, they told people that football parking wouldn't take effect until the late afternoon. Such wouldn't be possible with ROTR. Then again, the students would be gone, making traffic and parking a bit easier. But yeah, they'd probably agree and "ask questions later" as the saying goes.
