Thanking Saudi64 for generously providing the squad info before the matches.

My thoughts about the Saudi's performance in this ongoing Gulf cup.

I am sure all of us are dissatisfied by the way the Saudis are playing. It seems that we aren't able to score. I haven't watched the second match, so i can't say how they played.

Could somebody explain briefly about the second match..............

Saudi arabia is not a good team without Muhammed al noor. He is the backbone of the national team. Could somebody remind me why isn't he playing in this tournament?

Anyways lets hope, we win the next match.

On the contrary, the game was an excellent game by Saudi Arabia. We had at least 4 very dangerous chances, which 2 was blocked by the goalie in an inbelievable way. The possesion was 62% for us, and the number of attacks reached 40! We just have a scoring problem, and the first 10-20 minutes we are pretty shakey and nervous, don't know why. Our chances of qualifying is as follows :

    1. We win with any score, directly qualify as first.
    2. We draw in any score, we and Iraq qualify, Saudi Arabia first due to the fact we scored 3, while Iraq scored 2.
    3. If we lose by one goal, and Qatar and Bahrain draw by an score, we qualify as second.
    4. If we lose by one goal, Qatar or Bahrain win by one goal difference, we qualify, due to the number of goals we scored.
    5. If we lose by two goals, and Qatar or Bahrain win by any goal difference, we are out.
    6. If we lose by one goal, and Qatar or Bahrain win by 2 goals or more difference, we are out.

Therefore, we have the best chance to qualify, but we never know, we are usually unlucky in this cup..

    Like i said i haven't watched the 2nd match, so i couldn't tell.

Looks like we played a good game but were unfortunate to score.

I have a good feeling against Iraq. I am being optimistic about this match.

Unlike the west asian games, we have good players right now.

So hopefully we will win. If you've got any coach's comment before the match, post it over here.

Man am I anxoius or what!!!
theres been a lot of trash talk from the iraqis, the saudis have been showing some attacking strenght from what i have seen in the last game,so hopefully this one will go for us.
Hope they worked on their finishing, becoz that was one thing they lacked in the game.

    Saudi won 1-0 .
    qahtani scored 12th min, penalty
again an OK performance, missed many chances in front of goal, and some very selfish performance from yasser and company,
could have easily won by a 4 goal margin if people were unselfish.
lets c what kind of performance we get in the semifinal,
as far as i know iraq is out .
    any updates??????

Yep Iraq is out. Bahrain went through cause they won 2-1, and scored more goals. I can't believe Shalhoub missed that chance, damn!!!!

Congrats to all Saudis and saudi fans, great performance in all 3 games, and qualify as the best of the death group. Now, we will face UAE, gonna be lots of trash talk, but they aren't very good in terms of play, but their fans will help out.

I wouldn't go that far. Iraq had lots of chances too. We started well, but then after the goal and the substitution of al-Ghamdi (I'm not normally a fan, but the truth be told he played with lots of energy the exact opposite of his replacement Hagbani) we switched off and Iraq controlled the game even when down to 10 men.

Not a great performance at all. We need to play high tempo for full 90 minutes.

And we need to score our 100% goal chances.

When is the game against UAE?
As far as this game went, we looked v.over confident after around 65-70 mins, it seemed that we took the win as granted, we did go forward but without much conviction.
