When does the Russian season start? I hope those two do well over there.

I really wish the best for two players (although i never really liked Gargamel too much).
Hopefully, Shin Young Rok will start popping in goals and eventually be picked up by Huh. I didn't watch any of the Turkey league games, but his stats show that he deserved a chance.

Good to see that he found a new club. Also interesting to Nam-il in Europe again.

I find it amusing that Shin YR has his own thread for FC T T while Kim Nam Il just gets honorable mention in Shin's thread.

Never saw him in K league or Turkey except for highlights but caught the group matches when he played in the U20 WC 2007 in Canada.

Same group as Pato and Jozy Altidore. Didn't know who he was back then but looking at the youtube vid I thought I spotted LCY.

I thought SYR showed real potential and showed off some great moves on his goals.

Hope he fulfills his potential and get's a call up for SA

Dokebiteam has this nice vid up:

I have to say that the most impressive player during that U-20 tourney was Ki Sung-Yong, who played as a CB. Quality of those cross-field passes he played from the back were simply jaw dropping. Then again, pretty much everyone on that team, individually, was superb in all three matches.

Didn't realize Ki was on that team as well. Funny him playing as a CB as defense is not supposed to be his strong point but maybe thats the midfield role he plays today.

That U20 team was strong, especially in retrospect as some of the kids have moved on. Surprised they placed last in their group and didn't advance in light of their performances at that tourney.

Loved the goal scored by SYR against Brazil where he cuts it back to his other foot, made the defender look silly.

I remember in that same match against Brazil he got a wicked elbow in the face as he was harassing a defender. Ref didn't catch that one though.

The starting defenders were all injured in 2007, much like this year.

That was BS. Brazil should have a man down. But Shin still played through it and scored a nice goal. I had become a fan of his since then.

Park Jung-hye, who is currently playing for Daejeon, missed all of the ties. He was considered as the best defensive player in Korean collegiate soccer at the moment.

has anyone read this? this is a pretty good article, its more about Kim Nam Il.

    http://joongangdaily.joins.com/article/view.asp?aid=2914007

It seems like there were a lot of important spectators in that game against Serbia. I really hope Kim Nam Il can regain his form even a little for his last world cup.

the article also says that Tom Tomsk wanted SYR last year but went bankrupt... bummer....

did any of you guys attend the Suwon vs Chelsea game at the colesium a few years back?
i think it was the summer of 07 when SYR was warming up and i shouted, "young rok e hyung, sign haejooseyo!"
and he actually responded "najoongeh, gidalyeo!"
but then i never saw him again.
since then, i fell in love with him and wished him luck whereever he went.
btw, what happened to pretty boy baek ji hoon?
i remember before the wc06, the Korean media was talking about him as if he was going to be the next zidane or something.

Great find. Good to see him back in action and scoring after that weird contractual/player's fee limbo. I wonder if Kim Nam-Il was also playing. Perhaps a call-up to the NT isn't so far fetched.
