As far as Brock Purdy, there was a narrative in the Bay Area - mostly created by sport radio personalities to have something to talk about and incite fans - that there are lots of Purdy haters who don't think he's any good. I don't think that's true. Sure, there are a few doubters, because he was the last pick, or because he's not a big guy or a great athlete and maybe doesn't look the part, or because they attribute his success to his being surrounded by great offensive players. But I think most people acknowledge by now that he's a very good quarterback. Not at the level of Mahomes (nobody is) but very good nonetheless.
It won't surprise me if Shanahan has a career similar to the NBA's Rick Adelman. Great coaches but not great enough.
He got out-coached. To be fair, it's easy to be out-coached when the other team has Mahomes. But Shanahan is supposed to be an offensive genius, and he got out-coached by their defense vs his offense too.
Plenty of people outside they Bay Area have continued to speculate that Lynch will sign one of the FA quarterbacks to replace Purdy.
In the end, yeah, out-coached. But really, if that punt doesn’t hit that 49ers special teams player’s foot, this game might not have been close enough for Mahomes to make some magic.
Sport is a cruel mistress. I just watch Scotland Rugby had a game winning score (try) at the death, last play of the game, denied because the ref and replay ref couldn't agree. Edit: 1st page
The link/data showing that people are less and less living according to the values that they have been taught and that is increasingly leading to more suffering.
That’s not what I said. Reread what you quoted. And, as far as what I did say, the idea that if humans practiced more such values as charity, compasión, forgiveness, peace-making, humility etc. it would result in less suffering in the world is my own, it comes from my brain, I arrived at it by deductive reasoning. So, I don’t need a link for it.
Sounds interesting. Like it was paraphrased by my daughter. Someone in Argentina once started writing the Bible in gaucho verse, Martin Fierro style. I read some of his efforts. Great idea, but the execution wasn't quite there.
Yeah, not an easy task. Someone did Don Quixote Paisa style and it was too much (or too little). I think that a shorter book can be rewritten in a different style, but a long book is a complex task and not a guaranteed outcome.
I think if they had focused on a small part, for example, the story of Abraham or Joseph, it might have worked. But it still is a very difficult challenge. You are right, to attempt to imitate the writings of Jose Hernandez -never mind Miguel de Cervantes- is not an easy task.
Managing a club in wartime Palkin was named Shakhtar Donetsk’s CEO in 2004, taking charge of the most decorated club in Ukraine. In addition to its domestic dominance, the team regularly competes in the UEFA Champions League, alongside the biggest names of the sport. While previously occupied with the daily running of the business, the former accountant now confronts issues of life and death on a daily basis. Soccer, all of a sudden, wasn’t important. People’s lives became the biggest priority. https://www.cnn.com/2024/02/13/sport/ukraine-shakhtar-donetsk-palkin-ceo-spt-intl/index.html
I couldn’t tell but didn’t the TMO say he saw the ball was grounded and then change it and say he didn’t. Omnishambles.
