Season opener part II! Good to have a couple competitive matches already before the start of the MLS season, but the short rest from Mexico City probably negates that.

Anyways, looking forward to the start of the season. Still concerned about our midfield and lack of depth, but we should be alright...I hope at least.

Let's go boys! I am hoping our starting 11 stays healthy this season, not really crazy about our depth on the bench. Also our D needs to be very careful about giving up goals before halftime, hopefully lesson learned? Getting Torres back should help a lot.

I am excited for today and possession game can beat KC I think. That being said it looks like they are possibly missing a few key players:
OUT: M Justin Mapp (left toe)
QUESTIONABLE: M Brad Davis (right groin strain)
QUESTIONABLE: M Benny Feilhaber (right abdominal strain)
QUESTIONABLE: M Paulo Nagamura (right lower leg strain)
QUESTIONABLE: D Ike Opara (left thigh strain)
QUESTIONABLE: D Seth Sinovic (neck strain)

Let's see boy wonder (Morris) get his first MLS goal today. Go Sounders!

Very small sample size but I already hate the 433. Valdez is struggling alone, Morris and Dempsey are out of position, and our midfield gets cut to shreds. We need another midfielder alongside Alonso who can defend. Friberg or Roldan is not good enough if there is any title aspirations.

I dunno.. I thought we were the most dangerous out there, even after we went down a man on a really, really stupid red. The real question is, was that because SKC just isn't that good, or a symptom of the 4-3-3 at home?

If our timing were a little better, the game would have been out of reach before the red. *shrug* The defense is scary as hell though. Always have a step away from giving up a goal. Yikes.

I liked how the rain changed wind direction 3 times in the time it took to fall from the roof to the field.

agreed but missed chances are missed chances. I don't get the love for Fisher when he was playing, I thought he was a HUGE liability and responsible for most of SKC's chances. The goal was a really f* up from Frei too, 99/100 that doesn't go in. So all in all I can't seem to figure out if Seattle looks good or not this season, it was an odd game

I'm certainly not going to disagree with your point, but just going to further explain that my point was that this game was the third game of the season for the Sounders and that as they get further into the season, those missed chances will have a better chance to go in because the players will be sharper.

The love is primarly because Fischer has a lot in common with Deandre Yedlin. He's just not quite as far along the development path that Yedlin was when he first started playing for the Sounders.

Yeah.. I'm not sure I've seen a GK dive over the top of a ball at this level before.. But hey, you know what they say, a forward can suck all game, but have one moment of brilliance and be the man of the match. A goalkeeper can be brilliant through out an entire game, but have one moment of stupidity and be the goat of the match.

agreed, but a GK's job is to be solid the whole game whereas forwards need to be brilliant at only certain times. Is it fair? Maybe not, but it goes with the game. As a Spurs fan Gomes had BRILLIANT saves but he also had gaffes and thats why we got rid of him.

I see your point about the 3rd game but expecting goals to start going in more often is not guaranteed, many teams spent all season doing that in MLS. I'm still not sold on a front 3 of Valdez Dempsey and Morris. It's really a 4-3-1-2 since none of them are wide attacking players (which is necessary in a 4-3-3). I wouldn't mind seeing Valdez sold and buying a true pacey winger.

The Sounders had several opportunities to sell Valdez during the offseason and he and/or the Sounders passed on them. I doubt this is going to happen unless Valdez fails as a holding forward and the Sounders are in danger of missing the playoffs.

agreed. I was stating more what I think would work, not what they would realistically do.

I think the Sounders suffer from the same problem as last season tho, too many damn forwards.
