"These are exciting times for Liverpool and I would go as far as to say this is the best Liverpool team I have played in," "This is a team that is littered with exciting young players. We have a good mixture of local lads together with some excellent foreign players and we look forward to every game we play. We fear nobody and we are still improving." "It's very exciting and not daunting, the amount of games. We have a lot of games ahead but I want to play in as many games as possible because it means we are doing well. "I'm still a young lad and the amount of games doesn't worry me at all, in fact I'm very excited and the more games the better."

That is a telling statement by Stevie G and goes to show how much progress has been made since this time last year. I'm sure he is happy he made the decision to stay. During the recent match at Stamford Bridge, the commentator on ITV observed that it was obvious Gerrard was meant to play (and run) for Liverpol not Chelsea, to the immense chagrin of his co-commentator, our own Jim Beglin (but a Chavski supporter, nevertheless).
