Is it just me, or are the Rapids pretty quiet on the PR front even for them? The season starts this week, we're raising a banner, and it seems like the team is doing less promotion than usual. I just came back from lunch in LoDo and looking up the 16th St. Mall I didn't see the banners they normally have out at this time of year. Still no press event for the jerseys. Not much, if any, coverage in the Post. No Folan announcement. It just seems like normally there's a series of announcements, minor as they may be, from the Rapids in the week before the season starts. This year, crickets.
I have noticed this too. A couple of weeks ago I was thinking that they must have a plan. You know, holding all the big news like Folan, Jerseys, and banner celebrations for one huge splash to happen this week. Now, I think that perhaps all the natural publicity of the Cup just gives them the excuse to do less and save some money. Does the win mean that they can spend less money and get the same number of people to the games?
Conor and Omar did go on a Monday bike ride with the guy that took over for Hickenlooper as mayor...not sure of his name.
Supposedly there's a slew of stuff going on: Rapids Week 2011. But I guess this means what they're doing is not all that visible.
They blow. My first thought was ... is that a Rapids sign? My next one was - man if you didn't bleed burgundy you wouldn't really catch that was a sign for the Rapids.
Hey, they aren't so bad. They definitely have some tasty locations. Colfax and all the underpasses in Denver are well represented. I like it. Keep the terrace weird!!!! Pid Army!!!!!
I was playing around on KSE website and they have job postings for what I think are all the high up Rapid's Media positions. I will refrain from my normal FO remarks.
I think that tickets are selling (Have sold?) well enough for this match that they didnt need to dip into that slim slim marketing budget of theirs just yet.
I don't think so. I've gotten two different emails offering 2 for 1 or 50% off promotions for this game, and a Rapids ticket rep (but not my ticket rep) found my Facebook page last night and messaged me to give me a link I could give my friends to get discounted tickets. Doing a quick look on TicketHorse I can find groups of 4 tickets in the main West stand pretty easily.
Hopefully the weather remains @ 65. We should have at least 15k. Or I'm hoping at least. We gave half the St. Patricks Parade atendees a bogo card. So I'm sure well do decent.
The ticket folk must be making decent late push or they're giving tickets away. I can find seats in the outer two sections of the midfield west but mostly in the higher rows. I'm not getting hits for 2 tickets in the midfield east sections or the premium east sections. Since those are the seats on tv maybe it will shut up Ole Gunnar BS temporarily. South stands look like they have seats, but they look pretty healthy at a quick glance at tickethorse.
