Well it was only a matter of time: A Los Angeles Galaxy fan was attacked by a group of Chivas USA backers following Saturday night's matchup between both teams, officials said. The brawl occurred outside the Home Depot Center after the Galaxy beat Chivas 2-0, said Galaxy General Manager Doug Hamilton. Sheriff's deputies said they had no record of the fight, but a police officer for Cal State Dominguez Hills, which owns the property where the stadium is located, said a report was being compiled. He declined further comment. The Galaxy fan, 32-year-old Oscar Nuez, said he was leaving the stadium with wife and teenage son when he was attacked. "It was around 50 of them," he said. "They saw my Galaxy jersey and immediately initiated to beat me up." http://www.theledger.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050717/APS/507170854
Obviously they didn't get the league memo - family friendly rivalries only. Not that I support violence but the league cracks me up. They go out of there way to set these situations up for the sake of rivlary and then are not ready for the consequences. This was as certain as the sun rising in the East as was conflict between Fire and Crew fans until we became such patsy's that no one cared if they played us or not. If you are going to create a dangerous atmosphere than you better have the security in place to handle it.
An encounter of mine from this past Saturday with some Chivas fans: Chivas fans: **** Columbus! Me: **** you guys! CF: Aye! Aye! Aye! Fiesty Senorita! We like! Me: No really, **** you guys! CF: Columbus is a long way from Chicago! AJ: Yeah, well Mexico's a lot farther! I never got beat up though; that stories pretty damn sad.
My favorite was the Real Madrid fan who came to the front of the second deck and yelled "Fvck Chivas!" to all the Chivas supporters. RM-Chivas must be a family-friendly rivalry, as no fight broke out.
