Will "she" be there? I want to make a full banner of blank nothingness (censored by the friendly people over at Twitter).
I don't think I want to support the USWNT in their negotiations with USSF at this time by attending the match.
They want more money- which isn't the problem. The problem is a few of them have been making the talk circuit and have been throwing the men's team under the bus. I'm not going to link to the new daily show crap interview with them... it's garbage and anyone who knows anything can see the three interviewed are liars and backstabbers.
A walled article , but you can get the gist http://www.wsj.com/articles/u-s-wom...s-u-s-soccer-of-pay-discrimination-1459429306
I am not really happy with this group right now. Morgan is making a $1 mil a year. I just have a feeling that Morgan only cares about Morgan. She really doesn't care that Press or any other non limelight woman's player is making jack shit.
what's wrong with the TDS bit? http://espn.go.com/espnw/culture/th...-wanting-equal-pay-hilarious-daily-show-video where's the lying and backstabbing?
Just an opinion. I have seen too many times where star athletes say they care about they other guys they play with and then the star signs a huge contract that runs those guys out because of financial constraints.
I disagree. No player "runs guys out because of financial constraints," that's on the owner. There is no reasonable argument to be made for any athlete to take less than someone is willing to pay. The notion that Alex Morgan, or Jonathan Toews, or Chris Bryant, should take less money during their peak earning years out of some nebulous sense of honor or so their teammates can have more seems laughable on its face to me. If business owners have demonstrated anything over the last 50 years it's that every penny saved will ALWAYS be first committed to increased dividend checks and then, maybe, if there's anything left over, they'll distribute a few crumbs to the proles.
That is not exactly what I meant. IMO, Morgan is using Gender Equity payment for her benefit not Press' or any other NWSL player so stop using it as a front. The NHL is a perfect example how stars taking too much of salary hurts the cause of winning championships. Pay the stars too much then those middle salary players get pushed out. The team is left with paying pylons to play defense or on the first line,
IMO, the WNT keeps saying they are doing it for future girls ... which they are, but they are also trying to get PAID. The WNT is a sorority, where certain players will always get a chance and some players will likely never get a chance. Jen Hoy and Sofia Huerta will likely never get a callup, despite being one of the top 22 American players is the NWSL. Christen Press and Crystal Dunn play half a game at the national team level. Alex Morgan gets 70-90' minutes per game. Press and Dunn have been better for the past two years. It means little.
but that's 100% on the owners - it's a self-imposed salary cap whose sole intention is to maximize their profits at the expense of the players.
as is their right. isn't this on the USWNT coach? I mean, I'm happy to consider the possibility that the USSF is telling the coach to make sure the most marketable players appear in the squad, but that just furthers their point about getting paid appropriately for making the team.
it was not self imposed. it was agreed to by the Player's union and the owners. The players got a guaranteed % of the revenue and the owners got a cap on player expense. If the players expense does not fall exactly on the expressed % then the owners give the players more money or the players have to pay money back to the owners.
the owners locked the players out to impose the cap and reduce the amount of revenue that went to player salaries. Yes, the players caved, but lets be honest about who wants a salary cap and why.
Interesting debate, but they will still out draw the men in the pathetic showings in KC and , I think, Dallas. The USMNT could not fill MLS stadia.
