Do you think they put 2 of them on there on purpose to split the vote so neither of them win? If there was just one RSL name on the ballot, every RSL fan would vote for them, but if you put two names on the ballot they each only get half of the RSL fans.

I put in my vote. So far Rimando is in the lead with 39% of the vote, but there have only been 19 votes so far.

Everybody get on there and vote for Nick.

I understand that good fact checkers are hard to find.

I know we are all diehard soccer and RSL fans here but seriously?

There are other people on that list that probably deserve it a lot more.

If you look over the list I don't think they are really going for something special. This isn't a real award. For example:

    8. Rick Koerber, self-described "Latter-day capitalist" accused of fraud in a scheme that cost investors $100 million.

I think they should change the name of the poll. "Utahn of the Year" seems like it should be someone with a great achievement/service, not someone that caused lots of commotion in the news, someone caught in an illegal act, etc. How does getting caught doing something illegal make you the Utahn of the Year?

I want to vote for Huntsman Jr., Larry Miller isn't on their either or else he would have my vote - so i voted for Nick (really, when you vote for Nick, you vote for RSL)! He's WAY ahead. Good for him!

I thought Checketts was Utahn. Rimando not only isn't Utahn, but I am sure cannot wait to leave Utah.

Although I am a hardcore fan of soccer, what DeChristopher did for Utah WAS EPIC. The man deserves Man of the Year award. Any Utahn who takes this seriously and subjectively would agree that DeChristopher is the Utahn of the Year.

BTW, for those of you who were bizarred by the evil guys in the list. I think it is suppose to be an recognition like the Time Person of the Year award, that has gone to the likes of Gandhi and Bin Laden.

At least Rimando LIVES in Utah. Checketts lives in Connecticut.

I didn't hesitate to vote for Nick. None of those other stories interest me at all, and this is just a popularity contest - so I'm also not gonna feel bad about stuffing this poll! Thanks, Uncle Dave, for giving us a team. Thanks, Nick, for giving us a championship.

You don't have to be born in Utah to be Utahn.
I voted for Nick. 52% of votes at present. I bet this doesn't match up with the Trib's pick.

Not to mention Hitler. Yes, the Person of the Year title is suppose to relect the person who affected history the most in a given year, not necessarily the most honorable.

If you're going to go for an RSL man, I think it has to be Rimando. Checketts didn't do anything in particular THIS YEAR after all—the team's victory can be traced to actions in years past. Of course, I'm not saying he doesn't deserve credit, just thinking about the scope of the award.

(Personally I cannot wait for Duiz to leave Utah. ;))

RSL Nation should vote Huntsman. Without him, there would be no Checketts or Rimando on that absurd list.

Yeah, Nick is in such a hurry to leave Utah that he and Brandon are trying to start a business here. What better way to get out of Utah than to start a business.

OH WOW! I had no idea this was going on! Any news/info when this will be put together or what their plans are. This is great. Utah has some good indoor fields that are fun to play in, but this will be great because of the different styles of soccer that will be played. I know its my life's goal to have a field of my own. Good for them.

While I was lived in Europe, I depended on you for honest, comprehensive coverage of RSL news. I idolized you as a major fan. I was prompted to join this board in the first place to ask what happened to you after your site got taken down. I depended on you many times this season whether I was in the other side of the hemisphere, or at work in Lehi, to be able to keep up with the games.

Now that you know me as a personage in these boards, it feels kinda cool. :)

Now, about the Rimando stuff. I simply say, call me a maniac. I don't think most of our players would want to live here. They don't mind living here because, (1) they earn hardly comfortable wages, (2) they cost of living in Utah is excellent compared to Cali or New York, (3) It is pretty.

When I have personally spoken to some of the players, I get the feeling that once their professional careers are over, they wanted to get out of Utah and live in another place. Jeff Cunningham even felt uncomfortable walking around the malls. Now, this isn't case with the likes of guys like Dunseth, Kreis, or Javi. But I think that I am justified to believe that Rimando doesn't assign to himself the title of Utahn, or at least just not yet.

BTW, him starting a business doesn't mean he has long term plans here. It is a rather common thing for entrepreneurs to start businesses, make them profitable, and then sell them off.

I am voting twice a day, both for DeChristopher (who honestly deserves it more than anyone) and Rimando (because I am a homer).
