After his "I got a man" hit back in the early 90's we have rarely heard from the lyrical master that is Positive K. And what of his rapping sidekick in that chick who does the girl parts? Best memory of Positive K was me and my girl friend learning the whole song and going back and forth on it.
Nice. "I got a man." "What's your man got to do with me?" "I got a man." Classic, absolutely classic. He certainly had the skillz to pay tha billz for a couple of months.
Best part of the whole song... well I'm clean cut and dapper that's what I'm about my man buys me things and he takes me out well you can keep your man cause I don't go that route
True, he is gone, but he did get a plug in the Brand Nubians/Grand Puba song 360 degrees (What goes Around), "As my man gives a zigga zigga, watchin three grow bigga bigga To Pos K, that's my *************** Here goes the wreck, whaddayou expect? If you wanna see some wreck, send cash, not a check Grand Puba, more than a public figure Quick to kick the bone up the butt of a golddigger Now Tic-Tac-Toe means I hit three in a row If I do a show then you better have my dough Low, low, well how low can you go? Call on Grand Puba if you really need a pro Cause my ************'s more rugged than G.I. Joe Don't front honey, act like you know" Ah, high school.
Such a great song. Are there three better one hit wonder songs then? 1. I got a man by Positive K 2. Just Friends by BizMarkee 3. I don't even know the name of the song but it was the Question song.....Question, Why is that ever where I go, I hear the same 3 songs played on the radio over and over.........funk that.
best part about the "Funk Dat" song was the video, with the kid getting aggro in Times Square. Was that by Sagat (take off on the streefighter 2 character)?
Aye. Other rap hits that seemed One-Hit Wonderish was: 1) Girl I'll House You by The Jungle Brothers 2) Just Another Case of the PTA by Leaders of the New School (which started the careers of some major artists today) 3) The Rhythm by Kwame 4) Feelin Funky by The D.O.C.
That was a fun song. L.O.N.S. actually managed to put out another album but people realized their appeal was driven entirely by a) their collaboration with A Tribe on "Scenario" and b) Busta Rhymes.
Leaders of the New School also had (just another) Case of the PTA & international zone coaster out before scenario. Not sure where Charlie Brown and the other dude are now. While we are on the one hit rap wonders tip: Das Efx Fu Schnickens (two hits) Black sheep (two hits) 3rd bass (two hits) House of pain (one hit) Phar Cyde (two hits) Rob Base and then there are others who had decent but relatively short carrers like Eric B & Rakim and Nice and Smooth, etc. On Mr. K Do you have any idea how hard I had to lobby to make him a mod? Enough thick envelopes to start committe to re-elect the president. Just shameful.
Naughty's 15 minutes lasted two albums (the one with "OPP" and the other with "Hip Hop Hooray") and their track on the Juice soundtrack was pretty tight. Speaking one hit wonders, anyone remember Nine? Whutcha want Nine? Fat beats for my rides So whutcha want Nine? Mad clips for my nines So whutcha want Nine? A ill posse and my name up in lights, N-I-N-E My friends and I were convinced he was the next big thing.
It was over when he rapped with Froggy Frog. If you own the CD, you'd know as to what horrible skills I'm referring to.
You guys do remember, don't you, that "I Got a Man" was actually a sequel to his duet with MC Lyte, "I'm Not Havin' It".
People, that was Pos K himself. They tweaked his voice in the studio to make it sound feee-male. Kind of puts a whole existentialist twist on it, doesn't it? and whatever happened to ONYX? they still hold the record for Best Hip-Hop Song Title Ever in "Blac Vagina Finda"
God, I can't believe you remembered that one. My friend bought the album, then I listened to it and said "No thanks." But I still iike that "Whutcha Want?" song. He was sort of like DMX with hair, except instead of dogs, he had a frog for a friend.
