Im sorry but i see this kid just as good as Neymar if not better & more effective. He's 19 & took G.Silva to the cleaners on last weekend (never seen Gilberto duped like that) Compare his stats with Neymar in the Brasileiro this season: Neymar = 17 Games, 7 Goals (Some pens) & 4 Assists Wellington Nem = 18 Games, 8 Goals & 5 Assists Even if you wanted to say he's played 1 more, hes actually played less minutes, heres the evidence : http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/basics/spielervergleich/basics_68290_121988.html Here's the awesome goal he scored not to mention another awesome goal followed up next week, where is the hype people??? Indeed it was a nice goal, but I have to disagree with this comparison. Borges is the top scorer of Brasileirão and has a goal/match ratio of almost 1, yet he is not better than Neymar. If age is the issue, and both Wellington and Neymar are 19, we must not forget that at this tender age Neymar won: 2 Paulista championships (MVP of one of them) 1 South-american U20 tourney ( MVP, top scorer, plus holder of the top goalscorer in history) 1 Libertadores ( MVP and secong top goal scorer, missing one goal to be the first) 1 Copa do Brasil ( MVP and top goal scorer) And is now the top goal scorer in Mano's era for the NT. It's true that Wellington Nem didn't have the opportunity to participate in most of those tourneys, hopefully this will be corrected in the future since he seems to have potential, but as you can see there is no comparison between them. Even if you consider those ratios presented at the OP more conclusive, since it's the only competition that both participated, you must consider that Neymar's been playing for a year and a half without vacation/rest. he broke the 60th match point already, without ever getting injured and being consistently decisive in the matches he participate. Seriously, by the way our team is playing , without any motivation, our situation would be VERY bleak without him. Plus he must've scored the best goal in the tourney (that's subjective , I guess), here: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yilmHgZntsM"]Santos 3x0 Flamengo - Amazing Goal Golaço Neymar aos 26 min 1º Tempo - 12ª Rodada Brasileiro 2011 - YouTube[/ame] and is a VERY skilled individual [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLFZFUv5K10&list=PL590A3B6C74B1F0D3&index=10&feature=plpp_video"]Neymar dribble dribbling HD - YouTube[/ame] [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eg-fIm-ZLFU&list=PL590A3B6C74B1F0D3&index=22&feature=plpp_video"]NEYMAR skills & tricks 2011 new HD - YouTube[/ame] He is also the 6th top goal scorer in Santos's history, the club that had Pelé and has scored more goals than any other team in history (over 11k goals), with 73 goals in two years IIRC... So he does have the pedigree Again, this Wellington Nem is a nice surprise and we must keep an eye on him, but atm Neymar is in another level, to be quite honest. He is very hyped by the media, but most of it is well founded. And yes, I'm a big fan of him Please feel free to discuss and correct me if I'm being too biased.
He's definitely not better than Neymar. Let's remember all the games Neymar has played this season and the toll from that wear and a tear. Wellington Nem has been solid this year, however I'd like to see another year of football at the same level, if not better. I also would like to see him match his performances at a bigger club. It's very common in Brazil for a player to do well at a small club and flop at a larger one. It's way too early to deem Wellington Nem anything more than a solid club player at this point.
It's funny because when the Arsenal interest was announced, I wasn't sure which player they wanted. Both of them are Wellington Silva! I'm glad to see Wellington Nem coming good. I remember being really impressed by him at U17 level. Oh, and with regard to the OP's question, no chance. Neymar is ahead of him by far.
I think they were into both iirc. Nem was pretty impressive in that U-17 side like u said. And yea, comparing him to Neymar is not even funny.
Neymar for sure. Wellington is a damn exciting prospect, keeps up performances like that, it won't be long before bigger clubs come into the fray. Would be intresting to see if Wellington Nem gets a call up to the NT in the future.
I think the usuall bid from a Eastren European side is imminent for Weillington Nem. I hope Flu will reject it, or the player himself will think more about football then about money - but I think it's edging closer and closer with how he's playing.
To compare him with Neymar was a bit brave by you cashflow. Wellington Nem is a talented player but isn't really at the same level as Neymar and hasn't achieved anything that Neymar has yet. It will be really interesting to follow him though. He is on loan from Fluminense right? Let's see how he can do with Flu when he goes back there.
Well... two of those were penalties and one was a very iffy call. The first penalty was fully deserved, but man... does Neymar fall over easier than a pack of cards or what??? I have never seen a football player fall over so easily without even a hint of a dive!
Di Maria. But believe it or not, he used to be alot - and I do mean alot - worst. he still dives at times, but he does get beats up alot and is still a lightweight it has a greater effect on him. He has to bulk up though, cause he uses his hands to hold off players too much - in Europe they won't let it slide.
lol, As i mentioned he gets to take penalties so you know that always sometimes falsifies stats... But on the real, obviously people think im kind of crazy comparing him to Neymar who is definitely a special talent. I just see something in Nem different to Neymar. I like to really study a players game and obviously Neymar isnt wanted by the whole world for no reason. But when i analysed Neymar's game i realised alot of the tricks he does is usually infront of the man & he can beat players with it but he just usually does with the speed of his feet rather than actual body movement. Another asset which higher Neymar's value is his ability to score, not just look good so his speed & scoring is his top asset ( similar type of player to C. Ronaldo) The thing with Nem he looks like a true Genius, he gives me a Ronaldinho feel when i see him sway past players. But hey they are both young and look like special talents, i just see something special in this kid, i could be wrong but if i was a manager of a top European club i would be reaching for my chequebook.
Dunno why penalties "falsifies" stats, as far as I'm aware they are worth as much as a goal from open play... And we've learned at Copa America how important it is to have good penalty takers in a team. It wasn't Neymar's speciality, mind you, he is improving a lot at these. Anyway, nothing wrong at following Nem, or even preferring him. His style may be more pleasing to your eye, that's a subjective matter that can't be translated to numbers and hard facts. Nothing states that both can't be great either heh. They are not mutually exclusive. Better for Brasil if both turn out to be craques
It was more a comment on someone claming Neymar should have had 5 goals. But actually given one of the penalties wasn't deserved I would say the amount of goals is alright. BTW: When I meant Neymar falls over easily I didn't mean as in 'dives'. Yesterday Neymar toppled over without my slightest suspicion of him diving (and earned a well deserved penalty). Its just how easily Neymar was pushed over... I really was shocked. I doubt he would last too long against English clubs.
Well, one can consider penalties "less valued" especially when the player has not earned the penalty themself, not been involved creating the situation, and they are dependant of the judge ruling which may vary. As You say scoring on penalties is in a different and special situation.
Set pieces in general. Remember how awful his corners and free-kicks were last year, yet he still took practically all of them till Elano came? he really made strides and progressed in that area, has to be said.. and i've been critisizing him alot for it in the past. Still has way to go, but seems like he got some tips for Elano
Great vids Bakaman. You have got to be smokin some pretty strong shit to compare Neymar to Wellington Nem. A glimpse at Neymar age 11. Really cool stuff: http://globoesporte.globo.com/progr...oicano-trajetoria-de-neymar-ate-o-santos.html
