ZeRoberto from Montreal Impact. Hmm except he's brazilian and probably has no green card. Or, that frisbee dog thing in the other thread.
Well, there was talk that the Crew were looking into securing a defender with their last discovery pick. Currently, we have our allocated SI slots filled, so we can't really afford to go the foreign route unless we can get a "transitional international" or whatever they call it now. My thoughts are, if DC would have the chance to sign a marquee player like Gazza, they why not the Crew? Especially if we can do the whole pro-rated salary for the rest of the season with an extension pending the end of the season or something. Anyway, I decided to look and see what is currently happening with some of our WC defenders. A couple stories on soccer365 caught my interest, albeit they are 2 weeks old. The story of Berhalter looking at a Greek team: http://www.soccer365.com/US_home/Americans_Abroad/page_40_35434.shtml The story that his deal went sour: http://www.soccer365.com/US_home/Americans_Abroad/page_40_35619.shtml Sanneh is available as well: http://www.soccer365.com/US_home/Americans_Abroad/page_40_35478.shtml Now, Berhalter is much more likely than Sanneh, especially when you look at prospective salaries. If I remember, Berhalter is a bit stubbron about playing in MLS, but I think he might be convinced if he isn't getting any other offers. I don't see why MLS and the Crew couldn't seriously pursue him. I think he would be a very good addition to our back line. If we feel that we could somehow arrange to get another SI through some sort of shuffle, then I think maybe we should look into a couple of the Korean defenders that did well at the WC. A majority of them play in Korea or Japan, and I'm sure it wouldn't cost too much to get them over to America.
holy ish I didn't even notice that. Surprised that it didn't have me touting Fowler for Crew even in 2002.
Didn't someone here make a list one time of all the discovery picks the Crew had signed? there were some great knockouts on that list. Rzepa, Mark Williams, et al. Quite the who's who if you will.
