...in the second round, too, after all that flapping his mouth about Federer! This should teach him a lesson about chickens, counting and hatching.
Federer defeats Gicquel - 6-3, 6-3, 6-1 He will face either Hewitt (most likely) or Bolelli in the Round of 16.
Considering that both Ana Ivanovic and Maria Sharapova were ousted early on, there's really no reason for me to look forward to the women's final this year. -G
If Federer loses against Hewitt tomorrow (before the quarter-finals) AND Nadal wins Wimbledon, Nadal gets the #1 ranking. I personally don't think it will happen.
Federer beat Hewitt 7-6 (9-7), 6-2, 6-4 to advance to the quarter-finals (where he will play Mario Ancic) and secure his #1 ranking regardless of what happens through-out the rest of the tournament (even if Nadal wins).
Brilliant quote from a poster on the ESPN tennis boards.... "SO lets recap....Djokovic lost to Safin in straight sets and then Fed beat Safin in straight sets....maybe Novak will keep his mouth shut next time." No matter what happens on Sunday, the real loser will be Novak Djokovic
Which final are most excited about... Federer vs. Nadal or Venus vs. Serena I'm going with the men's myself
can't really be to bothered about women's tennis. modern grass court tennis by federer and nadal is just beautiful to watch. clay is a bit tiresome for me, with the endless rallies and favors runners to much.
Same here. I will probably still watch the women's finals (or some of it ) though. Venus Williams, Serena Williams...same thing.
Venus Williams beat Serena Williams 7-5, 6-4 to get here 5th Wimbledon title (8th Grand Slam in all). The Williams sisters also won the women's doubles title.
Wow, this is shocking, Nadal just took the first two sets . Seems to me like a combo of Roger off his game and a greatly improved Nadal. But still, Federer in a hole at Wimbledon, what is going on!!
