Oh Fudge....St. Louis will lose for the first time this season...getting hammered now. Exhausted defense...no offense...no points!
Actual fact. Zero called in our favor last season. But not even 13 minutes of stoppage time will make me sad tonight.
Whenever I look at the score bug I think Seattle has a red card before I get to being confused about the uniforms looking more like RSL from most camera shots.
Wait, is Greg Vanney just trolling Jovelic? Guy has a chance to set a league record for consecutive games scoring a goal to start the season and he doesn't start him?
Couple incidents from yesterday to discuss First the possible handball penalty in Philadelphia looks like a pen from the broadcast angle, but from what I hear the camera behind the goal shows the contact was with the shoulder and not the arm The overturned MTL RC is interesting to me. There's not much contract, but the challenge has zero chance of playing the ball and is directly from behind so the opponent has no chance to brace or otherwise prepare for the tackle. This is the exact sort of challenge they wanted stamped out of the game back in the late 90s, and now it's cleary not red? Man, I dunno. Late Toronto consolation goal may have been slightly offside, but it's not enough that the VAR could tell from the camera angle they had so it stands. Chicho incident seems mixed to me. Closed fist, yes, but watching it at speed it looks like a "get off of me" move rather than an attempt to strike. Looks worse in slow motion.
So far in 2024: Seattle expected goals & actual goals scored xG = 8.5 G = 4 Opponents expected goals & actual goals scored xG = 7.3 G = 7 We've made the chances, just can't take them (2 of the 4 goals were penalties).
I see MLS has stopped posting actual kickoff times. Last season they would be posted on game day, right now it's not there even though the broadcast has started.
What an embarrassment at the back for Atlanta. Sooooooo wedded to playing the ball with the keeper that they almost give up the dumbest goal you will see this week. Seriously, defenders, CLEAR THE DAMN BALL!
I watched that live. If the forward just stood there instead of actively blocking the defender it’s a goal.
Talk about burying the lede. ANÍBAL GODOY, ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR 🗣️🔥 pic.twitter.com/ZEGhQx6UNu— Nashville SC (@NashvilleSC) March 31, 2024
re: Chicho It looks like a “get off me” move to me too. It was a very physical game, and he’d had hands all over him all night. I think a yellow would have been deserved, but a red seems real harsh for that. I’ve seen: a red changed to a yellow, a red changed to a no call, a yellow changed to a red, and a no call changed to a red. Can a no-call result in a VAR yellow?
Uh-oh. I did not like what I just saw. You are down a goal with 30 minutes left and a goal is obviously necessary. Gutierrez gets subbed off and takes his sweet time slow-walking off the field. Am I reading too much into this? Maybe I am. You just don't often see a player, when his team is down, taking so long to get off the field unless he is injured, and Gutierrez was not. Even when they are unhappy about being subbed, they generally at least jog to the sideline when down. I wonder if there is some bad blood percolating. Goal Atlanta! Nice pass and header. 2-0.
