Adrian is a poker player he doesn't show his hand early. Plus like i said i don't think he wants to take away the spot light away from roger so it maybe a " done deal " but won't announce it until after the Chelsea match.
This is the only thing that makes sense to me as far as why Deportivo Cali. Flaco has done well the last few games but he has done well before and then disappeared for long stretches. Leading me to believe he isn't comfortable here, or at least isnt a fit with Sigi's system. He is a talented but frustrating player. I wish we had all the facts on these loans, Flaco being a DP has been kind of a mystery as we don't know what kind of transfer fee was invovled when we acquired him, maybe that even has something to do with it.
We've pretty much known from the start that the only reason why Flaco was a DP was because of the transfer fee and, to a certain extent, that is why he's on the loan block. If Flaco weren't a DP, I doubt he'd be on his way to Deportivo Cali as the issue wouldn't be that we have 3 DPs and need another DP slot, it would just be a cap issue and those can often be taken care of with some fancy dancing. As far as Flaco not being comfortable here or with Sigi's system... I'm sure there is some annoyance on Flaco's part because he is always the first player taken out of games, but the impression I got was that he was still busting his hump out there most games. This year seems to be an exception and I wonder if the injury he suffered earlier in the system played a part in that. Regardless, Flaco seems to have drawn the short straw among the DPs again and is going to be the Sounder's sacrifice to bring in a better player at a position we're weaker at.
The sounders are weak in a lot of positions. Mainly in leadership. Alot of finess players and no real leader. A loan deal for Fernandez would mean he'd be back next year? How much does Seattle have left to pay for him? To me the Sounders are just not looking in the right places for the guy to take them over the top. They need a leader either in defense or in the middle (maybe not a creative player but a enforcer with a voice) another goal scorer would just keep filling the same stacked deck.
You need to keep up here. Tiffert isn't a goal scorer. He lead the Bundesliga in assists in 2010/11 and used to be the captain of FCK. Getting rid of Flaco gives the Sounders the player you say they should get. I will also question your claim that we are weak in a lot of positions. We are weak in a couple of positions (LB and LW now), average in a lot of positions (CM, CBx2, RB), and above average in a lot of positions (CM, RW, FWx2). GK depends on whether or not Gspurning gets healthy. If he doesn't we're weak at GK, if he does, we're above average.
Unfortunately, I can't take credit for it. That goes to Likkitp on S@H. http://www.sounderatheart.com/2012/7/7/3143556/the-adrian-hanauer-transfer-rumor-advisory-system
All but done Flaco to Dep.
Somebody in Colombia needs to sit down and have a WTF talk with Deportivo Cali's president. While reports persist of his departure, Sounders FC's Alvaro Fernandez is at practice again today.— Joshua Mayers (@joshuamayers) July 19, 2012
I guess there is a chance that Cali's president does this all the time, but boy there sure is a lot of smoke on this one. Adrian is probably using his comments against him to drive up the price.
I think Montero just denied that Flaco was going to Deportivo Cali? Hopefully someone with better spanish skills will correct me if I'm wrong. para todos aquellos hinchas @Deportivo_Cali que me preguntan @flaco_fernandez :es un jugador importante y si lo es aquí lo será donde juegue— Fredy Montero (@fredymontero_) July 19, 2012
for all those fans who ask me Deportivo_Cali @ @ flaco_fernandez: it is an important player and if it is here where it will play there is the rough translation. I don't think he is really denying it. Not from the rough translation If we do nothing i'll be rather ticked off.
A slightly different translation is: He's an important player and if he is here, he will be wherever he plays.
