Jean-Paul van Gastel was assistant to van Bronckhorst at both Feyenoord and Guangzhou City before becoming NAC Breda head coach. Was he fired, or did he want to move on to Turkey with Gio? Getting NAC promoted was his chance at becoming a head coach in the Eredivisie.

Starting in 2006, Mexican clubs began a straight run on the CL until Seattle ended that streak in 2022. The CCL was more balanced back around the year that DC Utd won.

Feyenoord U21 champions of U21 competition.
Iirc something went wrong elsewhere, so they're not promoting to the KKD/our second tier and join the other young teams, but I could be wrong.

Te Kloese about the search for Slot's successor:
    https://www.fcupdate.nl/voetbalnieu...iteiten-van-feyenoord-trainer-brian-priske-op
"In the search for a new coach, we certainly didn't take any chances," Te Kloese begins on the website of the Rotterdammers. "It has been a process of many months, in which several colleagues were closely involved in addition to myself and many trainers were followed intensively to see who best fit the profile we wanted. After all, as a club, we want to build on the growth we have experienced and the successes that have been achieved in recent years," explains the general and technical director of the Rotterdammers.
After going through this process, Priske is considered the best candidate to build on the growth that Feyenoord has experienced in the past season under Slot's leadership as head coach: "At several clubs, he (Priske, ed.) after all, he has already shown that he makes players better, advocates the attacking football that the people in De Kuip like to see and thus also achieves results," Te Kloese points out a number of qualities of the Danish head coach: "A pleasant side effect is that he speaks the Dutch language."

Feyenoord supplies more European Championship participants than Borussia Dortmund Among the clubs, English champions Manchester City and Italian champions Inter, who met in the Champions League final in 2023, are the purveyors with 13 players. That's slightly more than FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, PSG (12 players), Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig (11 players). Feyenoord will supply seven players, as will Atlético Madrid and Fenerbahçe. That's more than Ajax (five) and PSV (three). It is also striking that losing Champions League finalist Borussia Dortmund only provides six players, because in addition to Ian Maatsen, Mats Hummels and Jadon Sancho are not going to the European Championship.

Well, BVB can add 1 with Maatsen.

AC Milan are getting serious about Mats Wieffer. They value him between €20-25m although Transfermarkt has him at €30m. His agent has been contacted; now we have to wait and see what kind of money AC are willing to offer.

@Teak Iirc you know about Argentine players.
Any thoughts about Julián Carranza you can share.
Feyenoord seems to have signed him, apart from minor details I've been reading.

Yes, I am a big fan of Argentine footie and still follow Rosario Central when I can. Carranza comes from the same feeder club (Banfield) as Julio Cruz. But instead of going to River Plate for one season before Europe, like Cruz, Carranza went to the USA's Major League Soccer where he played with the Inter Miami and Philadelphia Union squads.

I haven't seen Carranza play yet, unfortunately, but I put a high value on the football sense of Argentine players. If you remember, Julio Cruz scored only around 15 goals in any Feyenoord season, but was very good with hold up play and bringing teammates into the offensive action. Hopefully, Carranza can do this also. Gimenez and Ueda were somewhat weak in this aspect.

And at the age of 24, Julian Carranza probably figured he needed to jump to Europe to develop better. I predict that he will succeed in Eredivisie and then move on in two years.

Aleks Zekovic 17 yo talent from Angers has been signed and according to transferexpert Fabrizio Romano we're after also 17 yo Argentinian talent Thiago Romano (family?) from Panathinaikos.
We already signed French-Ivorian almost 23 yo Chris-Kévin Nadje from FC Versailles.

According to Italian media Lazio wants Stengs.
The price mentioned isnot worth to let him go, as he's the only one with creativity and for 12 million we can't buy back the same quality.

  14. This to me would be utter stupidity. Hope it's just ignorant clickbait shit for Italians.
According to the Italian transfer reporter Alfredo Pedullà, the Rotterdammers are willing to let the 25-year-old midfielder leave for twelve million euros, plus bonuses.

The only source anyone can trust is Fabrizio Romano; his track record on transfer rumors is very high. Discount everyone else. That being said, Stengs failed on his previous attempt outside the Dutch League, and I think he would not do much better in Italy. For some players the Eredivisie is the right place for them and they should be content with that.

Yeah, hard to follow all of the rumors but it shows that there is great interest in stripping Feyenoord's squad given their success the past two seasons.

Atletico Madrid are rumored to be interested in David Hancko. As one of the best players in the entire Eredivisie, his loss would be a big blow to the Feyenoord defense.

And of course, the "usual suspects" are showing interest in Santiago Gimenez. Tottenham Blackhole and Arsenal will try to get him for cheap. I think that La Liga or Serie A would be a better choice for Santi.

Welcome to the Ajax problem club!! Dutch teams are always going to lose players as they cannot compete on salary.

Yeah that CL semi final team was stripped clean in a two year period. Whats funny is a few of those should have stayed another season.

Like was it worth Sinistera leaving Feyernoord to be a bench guy in Leeds!?!

Yeah, I agree with you on that. Sinisterra isn't even with Leeds Untied anymore, he moved to Bournemouth who won't likely ever be in the Champions League. If Luis had remained at Feyenoord one more season he at least would have had that experience.

this is why I'm against these loans:
'Newcastle gaat flink cashen met Feyenoord-huurling Minteh'
    09.02, Vandaag

'Newcastle will cash in big with Feyenoord loanee Minteh'
    09.02, Today
The year in the Eredivisie with Feyenoord has done striker Yankuba Minteh good. Employer Newcastle United stabled the Gambian for a season in Rotterdam-Zuid and seems to benefit greatly from that.

We're creating wealth for clubs that are financially better off than us, while at the same time a Dutch talent of our own is denied that chance.
As I posted before tell those players signing for money clubs without prospect to play: "Rot on their bench and get nowhere".

Julián Carranza will be Feyenoord's newest signing. The Argentinian player will soon be presented in Rotterdam. The striker comes over from the American Philadelphia Union. Nick Marsman, who was active in the MLS, thinks Carranza will need some time to adjust. "It will take some time to get used to the spaces," the former Feyenoord goalkeeper begins in conversation with Voetbal International. "In the MLS you get that more than in the Eredivisie. In addition, Philadelphia is more of a counter-attacking team, which drops back and comes out quickly in the transition." "Feyenoord wants to have the ball and be the better side. Then the spaces become smaller. I'm curious to see how he deals with that. For him, it will take some getting used to: a new country, a new culture and a new team. Let's give him some time to do that," says Nick Marsman.
