In the city instead of the boonies helps. Why do you think the Fire payed millions to return to Soldier Field?
Does it work ok? Jackson MS just lonst it's minor league baseball team. They have abeautiful stadium there. Maybe they should go for a D2-3 soccer team.
with an bunch of 0-0 ties among this weekend’s low scores, fair to say not much fireworks on display—-guess we’ll have to wait till the 4th of July for that An shout out to Elia Stevens of Gotham who with 5 goals done an great job in place of current front liners Esther, Williams, Purce missing due to injuries last week Rodman was an blond, this time an redhead, what flavor hair color will she be next week? and here might be an new prospect for future NT; Victoria DellaPeruta She’s currently lighting up the Italian league with 8 goals in just half a season. Played last fall for NC Tar Heels. Only 20 year old. So quit college early to turn pro. Played a few games for the Italian youth NT, but that means she’s still steal-able
I demand we hand Banda the NWSL mvp trophy. right here, right now. Otherwise this contest is turning into a farce!
this is what I was raving aoubt, one of the best individual game perfprmances Ive seen at the pro level. US will be facing her Zamba at the Olympics. Got to wonder how the they'll defend against her?---maybe an five=back or someone like Girma or Fox might have t o spend th whole game marking her
More likely, keep Zambia from having the ball and, if they get it, keep them from getting the ball to her.
I watched the highlights, which then compelled me to watch the rerun. Banda is Scary Good!!! She cuts through defense like water…
Yup. And now you know what defenses around the world have to deal with in a combination of Swanson, Smith & Rodman. All 3 can run past defenders.
San Diego just sacked Casey Stoney. Surprised here since she was a big name coach out of England’s WSL & supposedly a friend of Jill Ellis. I wonder if the underperforming Alex Morgan had anything to do with this?
game of the week; Gotham vs Spirit(highlights below) Trinity dipslays a lot of her talents ,but Gotham one playerdown while loosing 0-1, decides to still go on offense, thus givingnTrinity a lot of space to work. Also keep in mind that the NWSL still plays too much open field compared to way more tightning up over in Europe. So Trinity would of been fouled the moment she would of started one of those runs. For Olympics hopefulls Sonnett, Davidson & Nighswonger don't look all that good on defence for Gotham, especially Nighswonger couldn't seem to keep up with Trinity when marking her. Even the sub, Radcliffe, seems to beat Davidosn in an speed contest(towards the end)
I see Jenna as more of an AW. Too slow to play fb or qb. With the ball, she can control the pace, and use short accelerations. Jmo
It's done for MLS players on the USMNT news and analysis forum, not that that should be the gold standard, I guess. Personally, I think this is a great thread. It helps me keep track of relevant USWNT players at club level without having to wade through the NWSL forum.
For me key word here is relevant and how it pertains to the USWNT & current trends in woso. At last year’s WC, the NWSL proved anything but relevant as not only the US got eliminated early, but top heavy with NWSL players NT’s like Brazil & Canada couldn’t even make it out of group play. This season I give the NWSL an A- minus effort for in trying to fix the obvious limitations the league had last year solid financial investing now that can boast 14 fully paid professional clubs—-Euro leagues instead are notoriously unbalanced with quite a few mixtures of amateur clubs within their top elite league now offering 3 Spanish coaches among an array of other good ones able to out recruit colleges for promising prospects at an even younger age well or at least decently attended games showing that’s there’s still plenty of interest in woso—-Europe surprisingly didn’t get an big bump from last year’s WC, for example; Barca’s attendance average was an mundane 6.9K ———————————————————— but kinda the unexpected has happened—rather than Euro elegance(in form of the 3 Spanish coaches) taking over, instead it’s unfiltered speed burners like Banda & Chawinga are dominating the league and here’s an fuel for thought; none of the 22 chosen USWNT(including the alternative’s) play for the two top teams in the league(KC & Dash)—-completely opposite to thr Euro/competitors(France, Germany & Spain) who practically all played for their domestic league/two top clubs so definitely makes things interesting on how much influence the NWSL will have in the upcoming Olympics
most of the opposition’s NT rosters been announced and seems like an lack of respect for NWSL foreign players; stunningly Brazil didn’t pick Bia & Debhina(KC), Japan didn’t pick Saguta(Thorns) Spain didn’t pick Esther(Gotham) France didn’t pick Sarr(Spirit) Germany didn’t pick Rauch(NC) Canada didn’t pick St George(NC) unless the US can win something, the NWSL will become even more irrelevant
It's recent news that Bia Zaneratto picked up an injury that will prevent her from playing the Olympics. Also, Saguta is actually Hina Sugita.
yeah, just checked, Bia got injured this last weekend’s game that puts her out for 6-8 weeks. Sadly, in the same game, the 16 year old Alex Pfeiffer suffered an ACL
here would be my choice on an 22 member US ‘B’ squad, based only on NWSL Starters; Lussi…….,.Balcar………Sentnor ……………Sanchez ……………Demalo ……….……Flint I-Rod….Sams….Staab…..Kurtz. …………….Campbell subs; Yates……Stevens… ..Sears …………..DiBernadino …………..LaBonta …………..Sullivan Picket…Berkeley…Mckeown…Freeman …………Haught
Since you added Campbell off the reserve slot, I’d take the rest and put them on the respective starter positions… your list does show we have a good crop of up and comers.
Melanie Barcenas has been getting regular playing time since Donovan became coach at SD and she has some of the best dribbling skills I've seen recently. She scored her first goal this past weekend against Portland. I don't think she will be getting a call up this year, but she is one to watch. Especially as Mexico has her in their sites too... And I have been impressed by Paige Metayer recently as she has been moved into defense by Jonatan Giraldez. She's been playing right back, but prior to this had been in the midfield. I don't think she is going to threaten Fox's grip on right back, but she has shown her versatility.
And just like that Barcenas is off to the U-17 WC team... Katie Schoepfer Names U.S Roster for 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup | U.S. Soccer Official Website (ussoccer.com)
