It's not about those things... it's the H.L. Mencken thing - people freely enjoying sex. The puritanical suspicion that someone somewhere may be enjoying themselves and thumbing their nose at the draconian portions of the good book.....

Have you read Project 2025 chapter 2, or the Statement on Xn Nationalism and the Gospel? It's profoundly frightening stuff and it's all coming if Trump wins.

There is nothing in Project 2025 that bodes any good. Nothing.

Trump today after ranting on batteries and sharks!!!
Saying I don’t care about you, I just want your vote. I just don’t care.

Then he stated: I’ll tell you what,
    'Ahwoogooba’
Some people were ruder than that. Now a report on him paying people to attend his rallies.

He invented a scenario where he’s in an electric boat in shark infested waters which sinks. He’s 77.

No self-respecting shark would bite into his stinking flesh.....

Well, maybe with lots of Wasabi applied.

It’s getting late early to quote Yogi Berra. As it is in the presidential race. As things stand now, in my opinion Lumpy’s winning the election, if tomorrow. I know a week is a long time in politics and there are a lot of week left between now and November, but it is getting late early and Biden needs to be closing a lot of gaps and pulling ahead in others because right now he’s losing this thing.

Still think it will be Biden or will some emergency Plan B get pulled out?

Here are the variables (in my book) that might play out in Biden’s favor. Not all of them need to break in Biden’s favor, but enough of them do.

    1. I suspect Biden has a huge untapped war chest for use post-Labor Day. Will that be enough?

    2. Lumpy is genuinely suffering from some form of mental affect. Will there come a point in the next few months where this becomes impossible to ignore? Right now, too often, he speaking pure gibberish on the campaign trail. Alzheimer’s is in his family. But for all the talk of Biden being over the hill, Lumpy’s the one with the problem on this front.

    3. If the debates happen, I would expect Biden to win handily. If so, how will that affect Lumpy? And the voters?

    4. Kamala. They can’t keep her in a locked basement, but they might need to start looking at pick proof locks.

    5. Lumpy’s VP choice. VP choices rarely move the needle, usually never. I have a notion that Lumpy’s might/could in a negative way. Harris is a known entity, a drag on Biden so that’s baked into the numbers and polls. Lumpy’s VP, if it were for instance MTG (yes, I know), would be a serious anchor on his campaign. Not all his choices are in that league, but enough are.

    6. Lumpy’s legal problems. They don’t garner him more votes (still don’t understand that one), but will they siphon away much/many?

    7. Will people get tired of the constant self-victimization by Lumpy? Fixed this, sham that, everyone that ever lived is conspiring against me. It’s waaaaay old for me (yes, I know), but are they independents who finally say oh STFU?

I read this from John Cleese

It's encouraging to watch Trump going ga-ga. Now he's talking about how he'd rather be electrocuted than eaten by a shark. He has other loopy routines about Cary Grant in a swimsuit, and windmills, and what a great guy Hannibal Lecter was .But the very rich still support him

The thing about that particular loopy-tune was that the freaking imbecile thinks that the electricity in a battery will electrify the entire sea! As a radio plugged into the mains electricity does when falling into contact with the water in a bath-tub.

What a complete fvcking cretin. How can anyone think that he is fit to be President?

Of course it does. Like injecting bleach cures COVID. You acquire great scientific knowledge if your uncle went to MIT.

While I doubt that this woman has anything much useful to add to the intelligence bank of society, if anyone is actually offended by the term "fresh off the boat" they should take me up on this term - "please go for a rest in a mental institution"

Fresh off the boat being a term that sociologically applies well (IMO) to newly arrived immigrants in any strange society. I'm assuming that because slaves came on boats too that there is some crossover knickers-twisting amongst the usual mental layabouts with nothing else to think about but obscurantist ways to find some way to be aggrieved by language.
To which, I say .... "Up Yours"

Crying that Taylor Swift doesn’t love him as he thinks she should and musing that he and Nancy Pelosi could have been the ultimate power couple.

You know it’s a times like this I fear for the future of fascism.

Waiting for the fixtures to get released this week, but I’m planning to make the trip to Liverpool in August. Anyone have any advice about the best way to obtain tickets?

    We’ve been a few times:

Once, we booked the hospitality package

Most other times through our local LFCDC membership where they have lotteries twice a season.

I did the hospitality for a family of 5. Yeah it was exorbitant - but guaranteed me great seats, a nice meal and a meet and greet, and transport to and from the stadium.

Genuinely? Unless you know local STH's who are willing to give away their seat(s) then it's through 3rd party touting/resale sites.

Being a member for the last 10 years or so now has does nothing for me, I was attending the same number of games before than after.

I think that's fine. if a cow is on the loose, the police should definitely moo it down.
