this might be coming to a city/town near you before too long. just about all cities kick the repair plans down the road for decades, because of the huge costs - extremely difficult to sell it to voters for something that costs a LOT but isn't visible (unlike road repairs for example) Calgary’s water main failed earlier this month, prompting citywide water restrictions. One expert says the warnings aren't necessarily about running out of water, but instead about the pressure needed to move water through Calgary's large underground network of pipes. It could take weeks to fully repair the damage and restore full service. It could have serious implications for emergencies, such as fighting fires and water access in hospitals, if taps run dry.
he'd sit those 100-year old pipes down and negotiate a world-class settlement, the likes of which nobody has seen before.
yeah - I don;t think tha kind of access is really much use anymore, as the rise of social media over the past 15 yrs approx has really vastly panded the audience of 2ndary fans who want to go to a premier league game or a few games in a lifetime. You are now competing with the folks who also see Eurodisney, etc on their travel list...
That is good. (He can also be cr@p, as the TV show "Spaced" proves every minute. How anyone thinks that is funny is beyond me....
Official supporters groups will allow you to sign up for reserve tickets, which are officially distributed from the club itself to the group... I'd suggest starting there. Look into which groups require a local address and which don't. For the ones that don't, you could sign up for a membership, and request to reserve tickets for your match. Gonna be much cheaper than hospitality. Alternatively, you could find out when the match you want to go to is on sale to the general public (ie, not the away-traveling local fans) and get on the phone with the club as close as possible to that specific time and date. That's how I first got my seats, once upon a time. That said, that was an entirely different era in terms of demand... I'd guess that in the current post-Klopp/back in CL era, it's more difficult to go that route. Last resort is research a reliable scalping site. I did that for the 22 FA cup final. Expensive as ********... but apart from that I cannot complain.
The by far easiest route would be to buy hospitality tickets as soon as they go on sale. Demand probably won't be insane, but the prices will be quite steep and that cost means they will be much more available than a regular seat. But IIRC even these mostly sell out, eventually. Especially for a big match.
Any OLSC found signing up people from outside its geographic area is subject to disaffiliation by Anfield and all tickets (present and future) withdrawn permanently. So far no OLSC has suffered this death penalty, but I am aware of 3 different OLSCs who have been warned and have had tickets withdrawn. It’s something that Anfield takes very seriously and have been cracking down on.
I've never scalped football match tix, but I'd imagine tickets to a Wembley final would have a far bigger presence in scalp-availability, given the amount of "for general public sale" tickets that there are compared to regular-season games at popular club grounds like Anfield. 7/8 years back I got a ticket over the phone - but did it by finding out in advance from the club when that game went on sale. Also - it's easier to get a ticket for to watch us paly Swansea than say Arsenal, etc.... I tried to get one for the game v Chelsea the next year and they were sold out when I got through
other than the bit at the end referencing Thomas Sowell (who is about 40%-60% full of sh!t, I've been saying this to anyone who would listen for 8 or 9 years now..... when I first started to detect these effects.... Haidt's on the money here. Time for councils of community editing - how you get them though, is wishful thinking in this present day environment https://www.noemamag.com/social-media-messed-up-our-kids-now-it-is-making-us-ungovernable/
I have been in an OLSC for well over a decade and wasn't aware of any such punitive action... suspect it's just one of those legal issues that will never be followed up on, but if it's truly that bad then yeah ignore that advice. Definitely don't want to go that way and find out your ticket is forfeit. That said I've gotten tickets through an OLSC that was not my own, and it as an incredibly easy and painless process. I've gotten tickets every way you can get them, and that's been by far the best route for someone stateside IMO. @Suss dunno where you're at in NY, but all of NYC, Brooklyn, New Haven, & Jersey Shore have official groups. Not sure if you can plausibly join one of those with your address, but worth looking into/asking around. Surprised there's no Buffalo yet...
Yep, this is exactly what my experience was. 2011 -- home matches against Birmingham City & Newcastle, not hard to get if you call up on the day they go on sale. Got good seats in the Kop for both of those. But... the home derby ticket in 2017, quite sure calling up wouldn't have helped me there. Got through my supporters club. Wonderful match as well. My view below.
Guy I know was going to the US in February. I directed him to an OLSC. They were having a raffle for some good cause on game day. Anfield had donated 4 tickets for the City game in March. He won them. When the paperwork was done, fan numbers, etc. he was told he wasn’t a geographic member and the tickets could only go to one. The OLSC was told that the 4 tickets would be invalidated unless they went to a member of the OLSC and it’s my understanding that there’s still a bit of bad blood between Anfield and the OLSC over what was a genuine mistake. That OLSC is strictly enforcing the geographic ticket thing going forward as are a few more in the immediate vicinity. Apparently Anfield is even enforcing this with non-geographic US based members, and no way, no how are UK based fans happening.
Nice seat that there. I had a similar (but left side of goal) Kop seat to a Utd game in the late 90s (we lost 2-3 - Hyppia and berger scored, I believe - Berger into my Kop goal) As for you ticket here, it looks like the guy in front of you is pointing up for the guy whose ticket you got to show him where his new seat is!! "Up there, somewhere, mate..." Which is about where i was the last time I went....
If you're going with the possibly illegal 3rd party option, I used https://www.footballticketnet.com/ in April 2019 to see the Porto CL QF home leg and the following weekend's match with Chelsea (where Salah scored THAT goal). A little dodgy with claiming the Chelsea ticket (a funny story I'm sure I told back then) but otherwise easy enough.
Upper 90's typically the last few weeks. We had a pretty wet April and May. Now we're cruising into hot dad summer.
