I would trade that red card for Hirakawa's injury any time. This match now is probably won but we can't afford to lose starters in a tournament like this.

    Stream i'm watching

Wait this is embarassing. Olympic Games are in Paris and none in France broadcast this football men match?

In no way, shape or form this should be considered as acceptable for the host nation to not give its own people access to a free streaming service that would allow them to watch anything they want, whenever they want in the Olympics.

I don't know about you, but I really hate the way we have played since the red card. Our Japanese boys should be the ones piling up the pressure on the other side, not the opposite.

    3-0.

It sure took a long time, but the floodgates are well and truly open now.

Really despise players who keep fouling.
    Great result.

    Same.
I also hate teams that fake injuries and grassroll, see: Morocco today.

    No s***.

If the referee was not in a mood for leniency, I swear that Paraguay would have been put down to 8 plaeyers by now.

Eat that header! Fujio makes it 4-0 on a perfectly played indirect free kick.

Fujio with another goal. This time on the breakaway. 5-0.

it's frustrating not to have seen 1 second of the match... I'm very happy with the score!

Very solid, controlling and concentrate game by Japan. Nothing really to complain but one thing is for sure. Hosoya is a desaster, he will never score a goal, way worse then Asano.

This is his 3rd tournament in a row and each one with a different age selection. He was disaster in everyone of them.

    Very good result.
5-0 is strong even with a red card for Paraguay.

Yes. Hosoya no need to start . Why not

Hosoya contributed to the first goal by blocking Paraguay's defender.

Saito, Mito and Sekine the best players today IMO.

tbh I didn't think Hosoya was a disaster... the last pass for example was great. It wasn't he who assisted Fujio no? Unless I was mistaken. Also yes in the last tournament he was bad but at least he had awakened in the semis.
But it was a particular match with the red card and everything, I won't really take any insights from this one

I guess I overestimated the Paraguayans after they ousted the former gold medalist Brazil, but that's football for you haha. Great start for the u-23 blue Samurai and I hope they continue their good performance in the upcoming matches.

Sure but let's say that JNT would have won by a smaller margin (infact something similar happened in WC2018 against Colombia) while this youngsters had no mercy and trashed a team of foulers and grass rollers demonstrating in the pocess to be phisically and mentally tough.

Sure Hosoya played his part in the win. But for a striker to have 0 goals, 0 chances to score ( if I am not wrong) and to be optical totaly invisible is not a good sign.

Fujio really reminds me abit of Osako, so strong and difficult to dispossess of the ball. Great in the air too.

Leo Kokubo may have a chance to be Japan's best GK ever, he should be at the WC 2026. Think only Keisuke Osako and Kosei Tani are close to his level now, Zion Suzuki is still TBC.

Paraguay is wierd. They were strong in the 2nd phase qualifications.
Then in friendies against Argentina in June they lose 4-0, 2-0 and against france 4-1. The 5-0 loss just continues. I don't know if its the same pool of players or worse.

    Good save by Kokubo.

I hope the team will start picking up the pace. A win today would mean a surefire qualification and I'm always a firm believer in finishing the first job as early as possible.

Who the hell is Mito???? Why the ******** is he on the bench?

And of course Hosoya is starting and Fujio remains at the bench???

So 2 players with 2 goal each from the first game are staying at the bench in the most important game. Cause when Japan wins, they are through.

Dont understand these unpopular decisions from japanese coaches. Please play players after their performance.
