Good thing Luna isn't gone these next three weeks. In other, less important team news, today the Ismitjes found out the Team Store is closed on Mondays. Rolled into town today and went straight there to get a Luna jersey and a Royals t shirt, but alas. And off to Cedar too early tomorrow to get to the store.
RSL show guys are saying Chicho didn't say anything racist or homophobic to get him in trouble. So what do you say/do to get 4 games if it's not one of those things? Speculation now is what he said to the ref. So, if that's the case, why not a red at the time? Or did he go Petke on him after the game?
Maybe it was just the act of standing over a downed player and getting in their face that they are trying to eliminate.
I don’t interpret that particular rule to be aimed at taunting, poor sportsmanship or insults at referees.
LAG is atop the West by 2 points over RSL & LAFC. We have a game in hand over them and LAFC have 2 in hand.
If this goes through Julio is about to be the most sought after man in MLS. Hell we may even need to bring Sam Johnson back. https://www.thetimes.com/sport/foot...r-fifa-offside-law-change-luis-figo-9fzrrj5w9
The transfer window opens today but all seems quiet on the RSL front. I wonder if the FO doesn't want to disrupt chemistry by bringing in high-dollar talent midseason. Has anyone heard any rumors?
Crickets. But rumors about Crooks were nowhere before he was announced. Maybe they are a bit better about being tight-lipped.
I think they don't want rumors out there that drive the price up. If they're serious about contending for hardware this year, they'll bring in at least two guys that can push for minutes. I'm all for any kind of attacking player, but another winger (better than Chang) and (preferably) a guy that can play along/replace Chicho are highest priorities. I know they need a true 3rd CB, but that might have to wait until January at this point.
One would hope this is the truth, but the selling price suggests this was Chivas pursuing a Mexico-eligible prospect hard rather than RSL trying to finance another move immediately. They definitely need another attacker for depth and tactical variety though. Another young wing prospect alongside another forward (perhaps more of target forward or physical presence) could make a difference for sure.
https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/mls-announces-significant-roster-rule-changes Rule changes are official! I expect RSL to go to the 2 DP 4 U-22 option. I wonder if they can get the $3m GAM option from selling Barajas?
This is pretty similar to what I’ve advocated for years: if any part of an attackers body is behind any part of the last defender’s, then the attacker is on-side.
The news is in: https://www.reddit.com/r/MLS/comments/1e6nqd4/tom_bogert_sources_real_salt_lake_sign_winger/
He tore his Achilles at Arouca in May 2023 after joining them in January 2023. He had surgery and rejoined the team in November but was unable to regain his form. He was released in May 2024. My guess is he lost some of the speed he showed when he was with Orlando City. Story here. https://azscore.com/news/football/4...n-amicable-contract-termination-sapo-desporto
??? Maybe? Tell you what, I think up until last year, Chang has been our best bang-for-the-buck player in RSL history.
He still might be. There is a balance of having just enough players like Chang and too many players like Chang. At the moment RSL is right there with almost just enough. Need to pick up a few players closer to Chicho than Chang but it's a nice roster at the moment.
Looks like we acquired Michel for a bargain. "RSL acquired Michel’s MLS Right of First Refusal from Orlando City SC in exchange for the better 2025 Second-Round MLS SuperDraft selection and $50,000 in 2026 General Allocation Money (GAM), if certain performance-based metrics are achieved." This isn't the big signing I was hoping for; rather, RSL is taking a chance on him as a backup for Chang . Hopefully, more signings are on the way.
