If the Olympic team has problems scoring goals the #1 criticism will likely be the Diego Luna snub, but the #2 criticism could be not letting the Sounders keep Jordan Morris for a few extra days in order to call him up...

Heads up.. I also heard the teams agreed to take penalties after the game for practice.

I don't know how that went.

Good result. Tying Spain is no joke.

I honestly think this Olympic team is pretty good.

I don’t know if they are good enough to beat Argentina (our likely quarterfinal opponent), but I do think there was a very large overreaction to the recent Japan friendly.

Agreed, took some stick, in my view stupidly, in another forum for just mentioning what Paraguay did in Conmebol qualifying (quite impressive, runner up to Argentina in the group stage, then finished in 1st place in the final stage of qualifying), but beating them, and tying Spain? Damn impressive. Of course you never know with tune ups, what a coach/team is working on and prioritizing, but in qualifying both teams were quite good. Paraguay won for Conmebol, Spain made the Final for UEFA, losing to England 1-0. Not bad at all, but again, no idea if its meaningful or not, but hey, its better than getting stomped in the tune ups or having ugly losses on the scale of that Japan game last month.

They're not good enough to beat Argentina, but they're good enough to beat Spain and tie France?

"Good enough" and whether it would happen are two different things. We're fifth favorites for a reason, on both sides of the equation. We aren't favorites, but we can absolutely make a run at a high finish. There's no guarantee either we'll face Argentina in the quarters.

With Spain it’s tough to know not knowing what sort of lineup they put and I’m not sure the overlap between the roster from the France roster from the friendly versus for the Olympics.

I don’t know if we are or aren’t good enough to beat Argentina but that’s a pretty tough quarterfinal matchup (and by far our most likely one).

Probability of France winning the group with us finishing second might be around 50-60%. Probability of Argentina winning their very tough group is also about 50-60%.
Probability of us finishing second and getting Argentina is around 30%.
Probability of us winning the group with Argentina finishing second probably below 10%. So probability of us playing Argentina is around 40% if that. Let's worry whether we are athletic enough to beat Guinea first.

I watched France vs. Japan highlight. The result is 1:1, but France has like 500 chances to score and screwed up left and right, high and low. Richard’s teammate #7 Olize screwed up to give Japan a goal and he also scored a beauty. Japan has no much offense.

Trying to put together what I've heard, and I am not 100%, but this is what I think the XI was against Spain.

    GK: Schulte (I think)
    LB: Tolkin
    CB: Zimmerman
CB: Dietz (Robinson wasn't there or just arrived)
    RB: Harriel
    CM: Tanner
    CM: Busio
    AM: Djordje
    RW: Paredes
    LW: Paxten
    CF: Duncan

A Tessmann/Busio partnership should be fire. Playing together for two years is a big leg up.

"The high prices of the operation led Inter to take a step back for Tessmann."

why can't we have nice things

Diego Luna not good enough for the Olympic team but good enough for the All Star team

Paxten looked good with Vitesse last season. But as a midfielder.

I am surprised Venezia will release Tessmann and Busio for the Olympic team.

I was thinking they will have blocked them from playing.
