I didn't know the Quakes had already played Chivas (you see because that defense was very Quake like).
I love Cupertino and Sunnyvale which is right between Los Gatos and Los Altos! Why the hate for Sunnyvale? It's one of the few cities that is run well and is a great place to raise a family.
There isn’t much to do in Sunnyvale. Campbell is becoming a mini Los Gatos. Cupertino back in the 70’s , 80’s and early 90’s was cool with Valco Park but when they expanded and eventually became a dead mall, it got old. Looking back, it’s kind of sad they tore it down but everyone went out of business so they had no choice.
I resemble that remark. But Sunnyvale is ghetto compared to your favored Los Altos and Los Gatos (though I’m from the non-ghetto “southern Sunnyvale” ).
Sunnyvale has a very small “hang” area now that they made Murphy Street pedestrian only. More vibe than Cupertino, which has “Cupertino Village”, which caters to the Chinese-American community, and the ridiculous “Main Street Cupertino” which was kind of a half-assed attempt to do a Santana Row lite near Vallco, anchored by the exorbitantly expensive Alexander’s Steakhouse.
If i ever moved back to the Bay Area or San Jose and could afford it I would want to live in Almaden Valley or Willow Glen
Ghetto is poor urban areas with a bunch of "Minorities". I have since changed my stance on ghetto since you and I have had our round abouts. I tend to agree with you more now. However Story and King Road are still disgusting, rotten, foul areas.
In reference to Sunnyvale I use it mostly in a touch-in-cheek way though there are a few neighborhoods on the north side that are maybe a little bit funkier than the highly groomed tract home areas.
As someone who lives in Almaden. Don't move to San Jose... the government is a mess here. Los Gatos is way better.
Cowell heating up... Cade Cowell! Puts Chivas up 1-0 on Queretaro. Goals in consecutive games for the former Quakes winger pic.twitter.com/y0PuBP3ZQJ— Brian Sciaretta (@BrianSciaretta) July 17, 2024
You don't know what you're talking about. Have you been to the rebuilt downtown Sunnyvale (between Mathilda and Murphy)? There are a million great new (and old) restaurants, bars, health clubs, lots of new apartments, easy parking, a nice farmers market on Saturday. If you can't find anything to do in Sunnyvale it's your own fault. My daughter lives just the other side of Central Expressway, and it's convenient to everything and very walkable. It's really much better than San Jose in many ways - and unarguably better-run.
When I first moved to San Jose I drove around exploring the city. I took Almaden Expressway south, and south, and south. It went on forever inside the city limits. Felt like a pre-Colombian explorer. Soon, per the early flat-earth maps, I was destined to fall off the world. And the endless stultifying suburban landscape surely hid the monsters shown in those maps. I dubbed Almaden “Dragon Country.”
