Once you get beyond the sprawl in Almaden Valley it's really quite lovely for hiking, etc.

Cade scored I think one goal in Liga MX games last tournament. Already has 2 in 3 games? The new Cade? Maybe he hooked up with Diego Luna’s positive affirmations therapist.

My impression exactly. Traveling south on Almaden Expressway it’s a suburban sprawl hellscape, indeed a ghetto - a cultural
ghetto, and seems endless. But if you somehow make it all the way to Almaden Road, the part that butts up against Almaden Quicksilver park, it’s like entering another world, traveling back in time 100 years, with the old ranch houses and open spaces. I didn’t know it existed until 6 months or so ago when I was seeking out a trailhead at the preserve.

Eventually you'll end up in Morgan Hill which is like falling off the end of the world.

I live across from one of the entrances to Quicksilver (not the one you mentioned)... it is indeed a really cool park and we're lucky to be able to hike it every day if we wanted. But, that also comes with a downside of the hellscape that is San Jose and the overpopulation of our area; people parking all throughout the day in what should be a very beautiful and serene landscape. They have a right to use the park, but the people are just shitty in general... car alarms going off all times of the day, people blasting stereos, the garbage they leave on our street, etc.

Pretty sure that’s the unfortunate experience for anyone who lives near a desirable destination. I always felt bad for the people who live near the beach in Santa Cruz. That’s gotta be even worse on a nice beach day, all the people coming over the hill, going to the beach, parking all over residential areas and many of them partying. I sometimes run or hike at Almaden Quicksilver, the entrance off of Camden where the middle school is. I haven’t seen misbehavior among the people parking there but I’m sure it happens.

That's my entrance... it's a (growing) problem. Gotta love the car alarms at 5 AM on the weekends.

Quakes social media fresh off this, might as well be saying "remember to buy your tickets Chivas fans!"

After one goal per season for the Quakes and Chivas, Cowell now has goals in the last three games after being left off the Olympic squad

I can imagine Cade doing that move to his right to set up the far post shot against us. Our CBs and CMs would just stand around or back off into the box. Yarbrough is glued to the ground. Ball is in the net.

Could be but I watched Cade try that move probably well over 200 times for the Quakes in MLS and he almost never scored. There was one in 2023 but it was a deflection. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Maybe his shooting and technique have improved a little.

I cant find the post where I spoke about how he'd play, and he is playing that way. I also found the post where I eat my own ass now, and said he's over hyped. He is becoming a very popular chiva.

Liga MX: Cade Cowell on fire for Chivas

Cade Cowell scored in his third straight game for Guadalajara, opening the scoring in Chivas' 2-0 win over Mazatlán. He beat two defenders before launching a powerful shot in the right corner of the goal.

Chivas coach Fernando Gago praised Cowell for his start to the Apertura after a strong preseason.

“We are working on aspects," said Gago, "so that he has more space to play and receive in certain circumstances.”

If only we’d have “worked on aspects” with Cade while he was here!

That's called actually developing young players and is pretty important actually!

Well I was being facetious. Of course we “tried aspects” with Cade. The fact that he didn’t improve doesn’t mean we didn’t try, and I’m not convinced that he suddenly figured everything out. I think he’s scored a couple of goals and his confidence is high but we’ll see if he’s suddenly gotten much better. IIRC he started out 2021 pretty hot and made the all-star team (commissioner’s pick). And after that, well, he got progressively worse somehow. The point is, not quite like this, but he’s had hot streaks before and it hasn’t necessarily been sustainable.

Cowell is around good coaches, not a bunch of jackasses anymore. Cade is also around talented players which elevate his game or he can GTFO.

Also Cowell has 1 choice. Play well or get run out of Akron Stadium.

Yeah, change is good, and he is around a bunch of players who are better than him technically. He is still the worst on the team in that regard but it's likely to rub off to some degree. Still, last year he was mostly the same Cade. Maybe it's starting to pay dividends, but I think mostly he's just on a bit of a confidence high right now. Can he keep it going? We'll see.

He needs more than confidence; he needs a few more tools in his shed. He's been pretty much a one-trick pony to this point, and that will have to change if his horizon is to expand. FMI - if Chivas sell him on do the Quakes get a percentage?
