Isn’t there a law in Mexico that only an Ochoa can play netminder?

I think it was a recent Townies vs. LAFC 2 match that was Ochoa vs. Ochoa in between the pipes.

His pending transfer and desire to leave for Mexico is one of the factors why he isn't being pushed into the first team minutes. He could get a game or 2 before he's sold or leaves but unlikely.

He's had 0 desire to be a Quakes keeper since academy. His family wants him to play in Mexico as well.

Then it sounds like the Quakes wasted time and money on developing him that could have been better directed to other talent?

    Without a doubt.

Quakes letting Callendar go is a crime.

Even worse, he might leave on a free. Smdh.
Quakes seem to keep finding new lows in how to run a team.

Meanwhile MLS teams are giving minutes to young domestic goalkeepers like Roman Celentano, Patrick Schulte, Jonathan Sirois, Chris Brady, John Pulskamp, Gavin Beavers, Andrew Rick...

    "Potentially".
Did we ever find out exactly how much we got? I'm pretty sure nowhere close to that amount. Criminal indeed.

I dont know the answer myself, but it would have been nice to have Marcinkowski and Callendar together. We could deploy them similar to how Nashville uses Willis and Pannico depending who the opponent is.

    Keep reading:
Potentially... if he were to hit certain performance based metrics.

Pretty sure we got the full $150k given he is a lock as their starting goalkeeper and gets called up to USMNT rosters. Especially as he was straight out of college with no pro experience when we traded him. Most of the money is probably based on low bar metrics like "makes the regular season roster" or "plays X MLS games"... I don't think he needs to exactly win MLS goalkeeper of the year for the Quake to get their meager $150k.

    Ok?...
Never heard or read that we collected the total amount, but it makes sense I guess what you wrote. Incentives most likely weren't much.

wont even get a dime for him, huh? Yeah letting Callendar go is looking increasingly stupid.

keeper has been a black hole since daniel went down injured and ochoa can't get any minutes over the scrubs that we are throwing out there. good luck to him I guess lol.

San Jose re-sign academy talent Ochoa
Ochoa's contract was set to expire at the end of the season

The San Jose Earthquakes have signed Mexico youth international goalkeeper Emi Ochoa to a contract extension, sources tell GIVEMESPORT.

Ochoa’s contract was set to expire at the end of the year, but San Jose have re-signed the talented academy graduate.

Ochoa, 19, is currently with Mexico’s U-20 national team at the U-20 Concacaf Championships. He has represented both the United States and Mexico in his youth international career.
