Guess he's not ours anymore but Perisic was subbed on for Croatia, but Spain were already 3-0 up by then. Donnaruma let in an early goal and did nothing else against Albania... Not really a blunder but still hoping Vicario might get an appearance, perhaps in their last group game against Croatia.
EPL schedule is out and it looks pretty good. No back-to-back killer games (assuming the same teams will be good this year).
Fixtures for next season are out: https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/2024/june/fixtures-202425-list-in-full/ Looks pretty balanced to me. Starting away at Leicester, the Harry Winks derby; NLD Sept 14 at home; finish the season home to Brighton.
Oh shit. I've got a couple weeks off work in the middle of September, a chunk of which I plan to use for a trip over. I'll wait for the League fixtures to come out (26th, I think) to see what works best, but the NLD may be the best home fixture for me. And that sucks. They're by far the easiest home ticket to miss out on (if the website's being difficult, which it invariably will for that one) and, frankly, they're just too intense to enjoy. Hopefully Brentford at home works better, but I fear it won't.
24/7 LIVE TRANSFER NEWS Tottenham Hotspur sweating to meet homegrown players’ quota this summer According to Tottenham Hotspur News, Tottenham Hotspur need to sign more homegrown players in the summer to meet the ‘Home Grown Player’ criteria set by the Premier League. This issue has been raised following the exit of homegrown players like Japhet Tanganga and Ryan Sessegnon. After a promising first season with the Lilywhites, Ange Postecoglou is busy revamping Spurs ahead of the 2024-25 campaign. The Australian manager is targeting multiple players for various positions within the club. As part of his new plans, Spurs have bid farewell to several players, including Eric Dier, Ivan Perisic, Ryan Sessegnon, and Japhet Tanganga. I was wondering about this a while ago. Why aren't we recruiting more English players, why always overseas? Are home grown players not good enough or doesn't Ange like English very much?
Every team is in the same position with the homegrown rule so good British (not just English) players are in high demand and come at a big premium. I think our reluctance to pay that kind of premium is probably a factor. Also the quality though, as you say: the club's ambition to compete means we don't have the patience to let homegrown players develop (or fail to cut it, as many would). Crystal Palace are exhibit A for doing that well. I think last season 1 or possibly 2 squad spots went unfilled because we had maxed out on overseas players and didn't have homegrowns to make up the rest. (3 of the homegrowns were keepers too, so this has been poorly managed by the club). Under-21s are unlimited so we saw many of them as subs when there were injuries last year.
If we don't get English players in, we will have to waste roster spots on U-21s. And if those guys get injured, who steps in? I wonder if the lack of English players is a result of having Paratici in charge? The long term solution is to strengthen the academy, which does seem to be happening. But the next couple years are going to be difficult.
Just completely terrible squad planning and youth integration for 5+ years, and if we don't start integrating our current crop of U21 winners, we'll have the similar issues again.
Jermain Defoe leaving the club as a coach, he wants to be a manager. I wish him all the best. Would like to see Ryan Mason grow a couple and do the same.
We're about ten minutes into a friendly at Hearts. No score as of yet. Archie Gray and Ollie Skipp the starting center backs, which is mildly interesting; or at least it would be if they had anything to do. Spurs with about 80% possession thus far. Still, since popping it into wide channels and isolating our centerbacks is the standard way for 'lesser' (no disrespect intended) teams to play us, it could be interesting seeing how those two cope (not that we're likely to see such a pairing back there at any point in the season).
Almost over and it's 5-1 right now, Spence with a goal and assist. Bergvall running the show. Completely different XI in the second half.
Gray looks like good value for the money. Spence looked pretty good - wonder if there's any chance he might stay? Moore looked good, as well. Of course, it was only Heart's second string...

So we're hated as far away as Scotland but a win is its own revenge.
Spence impressive again (reportedly). I gather he might have earned a second look from Ange as Regulion hasn’t even made the bench.
Apparently not serious thankfully. I read a £60 m bid has come in for Richarlison and I hope it's accepted and he leaves asap.
Yeah, saw highlights and he was holding his ankle, but walked off unassisted and without a limp. Hopefully just a scare. With Bergvall and Gray, I don't think we really need another midfielder.
Spurs beat the K-League All-Stars 4-3 after leading 3-0 at HT. We look good going forward, but the second half was a shit-show defensively. We look exactly like we did last season - as soon as we lose possession, the other team has a free run at our CBs. If we play like that in the PL, Ange will be gone by October. Austin did not look good in goal.
Donley was very impressive playing at left back. He's still learning how to play defense, but going forward I think he looks better than Udogie.
3-4 win. Too many conceded. Big test comes against Bayern. Normally previous players score against us.
