Sam Coffey played the last 15 minutes of the Thorns game on Sunday. She looked fine. So when she recovers full fitness after a couple of weeks on the sidelines, it looks like she will be good to go. (Seeing the Thorns without her and with her confirms to me how really good she is.)
A question for those who might know. Does the alternates receive the same cut, money wise, as those on the roster of 18?
No. While it's not spelled out in the current CBA, from what I can tell, alternate players receive the per diems and the equivalent of the appearance fee for being in camp, but not the game performance or tournament placement bonuses. (unless, of course, they move to the official roster due to an injury to a rostered player)
I really care very little who we send to the Olympics from our top 30 or so players as long as the old war horse, Morgan, is totally left out. I think her "leadership" is only leadership aimed at leading the team over the nearest cliff. She no longer can score or defend or pass and that makes her next to worthless. Taking up a roster spot or even an alternate spot with players that have no ability to be of any value is foolish at best.
The roster has dropped: no Alex Morgan. I'll post the full roster in the Olympics thread since we're no longer predicting it.
