The MLS Secondary Transfer Window opens July 18th The MLS Secondary Transfer Window opens July 18th. 👀Which teams could make a splash and capitalize on open Designated Player spots this summer? https://t.co/JQiKY3S8rQ— Major League Soccer (@MLS) June 14, 2024
We’re not mentioned anywhere. I think they know we’re screwed. I don’t even know if Gruezo could be bought down. I think there’s a limit to how much you can bring a DP salary down and I think Gruezo is at $1.7M. I’d be surprised if we do anything more than an Ayo Akinola type of deal - little $ for a middling MLS veteran.
Gruezo can be sent elsewhere (previously Doyle had suggested LigaMX) of bough OUT. MLS teams are allowed to do that with one contract per year and the Quakes haven't done that since Simon Dawkins 2.0
Of course they can buy out Gruezo and they should but they won’t because 1) it likely doesn’t fit under the FishBudget, 2) because Luchi and CL probably don’t realize, or want to realize, or agree with some of us about how useless Gruezo is.
Luchi loves Gruezo. Thats his guy. His number one guy he wanted from day 1. #2- was Daniel a good pick.
Realistically we should make a trade for 34 year old Matt Hedges as a stop gap and veteran in the back. With Wilson done for the year, Beason sucking and Munie still very green, Hedges would be a good addition and a realistic one. Luchi likes the veteran keeper route, we should dump Yarbrough and trade for Joe Bendik.
Emiliano Rodriguez, young Uruguayan from Atlético Goianiense, draws interest from San Jose Earthquakes and San Lorenzo. Will the Brazilian club manage to keep him? #Quakes74 #SanLorenzo #MLS #ACG #DragãoDoBrasilhttps://t.co/sHo7R90CJN— MLS Multiplex (@MLSMultiplex) June 17, 2024 6ft3 20 year old fwd https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emiliano_Rodríguez_(footballer)
Defense schefense. I'm not gonna get my hopes up, but I'd love it if we acquired a U22 forward - assuming he can play. 5-4 wins, all day long! If we don't use any U22's this year, it should be a primary focus next year to use those slots, of which we are using 0 right now? And CF is a need for which we have nothing in the academy pipeline.
How is there a soccer team called "Boston River" that's not located in the US or England? Wth: The club is named after a tailor shop owned by its founder, called "Sastrería Boston", and Argentine side River Plate. Also he has a twin brother who has scored more goals than he has and has a few caps with Uruguay... which probably puts him outside the Quakes price range https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luciano_Rodríguez
Do we want this guy? He's leaving FC Porto for MLS and he's only 27: Stephen Eustáquio https://mlsmultiplex.com/posts/fc-porto-could-lose-star-to-mls-01j0h46ymzq2
He would be great with those 2 guys. If he played for Luchi he'd probably play left wing. #EyeRolling
How about going after recently retired GK Joe Hart? https://www.transfermarkt.us/joe-hart/profil/spieler/40204 He can't be worse than William Yarbrough.
