Yes when your 35 year old goalkeeper has lost his reflexes obviously you replace him with an expensive 37 year old goalkeeper, because that solves your "old goalkeeper" problem!

Austin just signed Ukrainian CB Svatok who is currently at the Euros. Everything's fine in Quake land.

I’m all for signing younger players but if you want to use experience, I’m sure there are plenty of free agent Over 33’s around.

They would work for a year or two and honestly , with the exception of TT, do that many players hang around for that much longer?

They can’t be worse than what we are witnessing from this bunch.

Are those numbers better or worse than Preston Judd?

The "appearances" thing can be misleading because some guys just get into games as "time waste subs" and things like that. He had 2600-something minutes and 6 goals, which is not great but not atrocious either. Judd is somewhere in that ballpark in terms of production (a little better).

Very true, minutes makes more sense than appearances for guys like that.

But that's a goal contribution (8g+a) every 325 minutes... no thanks.

I would give Will Richmond a chance if it means Judd sits on the bench.

He's been out a long time - I guess injured? Unless he just bailed :).

He's so far down the depth chart, he's a guy who will probably be released when his contract is up. However, with Ian anything is possible. We could see guys play better then they did with Luchi.

I don't know if it's true but someone on reddit is saying that Biegański just got on a plane back to Poland and bailed on the team :). He probably wasn't happy about not playing and the Quakes bringing in Jackson, who then immediately got The Town starts while Emi went to the Quakes bench.

Sadly I was told the same thing about Bieganski, but a few people knew about it in advance.

It's the arrogance that pervades the entire organization - from the top to the Academy. It stinks, but it's Fishball...

    He's a winger, not a striker.

He can convert, Wondo wasn't a striker either when he was drafted he was a midfielder, and a CAM for Chico State

Really, that's our answer? Take a winger with average pace and see if we can turn him into a striker? How about signing a real striker with a decent goal scoring record?

Fisher nixed that idea. So maybe trot out someone who can finish that is in the area code.

We have no decent striker in our entire system including The Town. They have no one. They’ve got this guy Donnery who’s extremely dreadful. Like playing with a man down. Blancas and Cruz are attacking mids. Riley Lynch is not bad but more of an outside attacker. I think we have to go all the way down to Tomo Allen to find a real striker who can play, but he’s a U17 who will probably go to Stanford or something after next year. And he’s a real stick type build. Sort of Pellegrino 2.0.

Pretty sure the only good striker in the entire organization is Tomo Allen who is a 2007 and hasn't even gone through the "play against actual pros" filtering process yet...

CF, Tomo Allen, San Jose Earthquakes (↑6)
    Other citizenship: Japan
    Last International Cap: Uncapped
    Prospect Tier: High 2
Allen has had a true breakout season this year at the U17 level in MLS Next. He has led San Jose to a very good season and has been one of the top goal scorers all season long. He can score with both feet, his head and he can also drop into the midfield supporting the build up with great success. At about 6-4 with room to add strength, he is exactly what you look for in a target striker. San Jose have over prioritized academy winning this year and as a result Allen has not gotten the opportunity with the second team like he should. If he gets the opportunity to play in MLS Next Pro and he shows that he can produce, he could move himself into the tier 1 discussion. Allen has not been the top choice for U.S. Soccer. My guess is that he needs to improve against the ball to fit the style of play that they like to implement.

Top needs for the summer, not that I expect much, but if we were to make any moves of significane:

    - Striker. Again tonight Jebo was good in the buildup but useless in the box. One-footed disease and his long shots are field goals.

    - d-mid - Yueill is filling in the role OK but Gruezo is pretty useless. A feisty, ball-winning, tackling d-mid with some speed, even a 2019 Judson type would be nice.

    - CB - I'm fine with Munie and Rodrigues for now but we need another CB so that we are at least 4 deep.
