The A’s get a substantial subsidy from MLB and they were told it was being pulled if they stayed in Oakland. Google it.
I mean if you're saying Fisher is not to blame for the A's leaving Oakland, its all MLB's fault, you should have at least a single source? telling me to look it up just tells me you're on shaky ground.
I don't care enough about the A's to put in the effort to provide you with the link about the baseball subsidy whose name I cannot recall. But I swear there is one and it was reported to be in jeopardy. And it should be self-evident that commissioner Manfred has a hard on for stiffing Oakland. Connect the dots.
what's self-evident to me is the Quakes are on the same trajectory as the A's. I don't think it's going to end well for the Quakes either.
Here's one link. Now you look for others. . . . Assuming the agreement for a new ballpark in Las Vegas is in place by January 15, the team is going to get upwards of $50 million from revenue sharing in 2024 and 2025 combined . . . . https://www.forbes.com/sites/mikeoz...million-for-the-team---even-before-it-leaves/
Not at all. The Bills have a good offense and a good defense. If they had an elite QB Bills would have 1 or 2 super bowls since 2015. Its the reason the Chiefs are consistent contenders, because of Mahomes and Reid. You can stick Mahomes on any average team and they will win 1. 49ers are 2 receivers away. Hopefully Persell shows us something and Purdy is still slightly above average like Josh Allen.
Josh Allen didn't miss the late FG that was the difference in the playoff loss to the Chiefs. I will take him over anyone.
Well good ol Rick roll hasn't necessarily signed great players either...it's a combination of having a horrible owner and a pretty crap GM.
Yes I agree. Thing is Hernán is one of many like him in Argentina. It just took fisher a while to open up the checkbook. It wasn't necessarily the hardest thing to do. Daniel came from Inter in Brazil, one of the biggest teams, also not that hard to find. Let's talk about the rest of our avg at best signings.... The issues are that fisher is a cheap skate. So as a GM your job is to find the gems in a team like ours and leitch is horrible in that department, although I'm not sure we have a great scouting team. The two players you mentioned weren't necessarily the hardest to find. Attacking mid in Argentina? Sure you have tons. I've even posted a couple of times of players for the under22 initiative. There are many players to be had at a decent prize. Goalkeeper in one of Brazil's biggest teams? Again not that hard. We have a horrible owner + a dead beat GM.
Quakes will compete if we stop going to the South American Goodwill, and we actual had a scouting department and analytics team to research and discover players from other parts of the world. Like Spain, Belgium, South Korea, Japan and Italy. We need Ian to identify the style of ball he wants to play, he needs to get with our shit ass team we have and Leitch and Wolyneic, and make an honest attempt at rebuilding. We are LUCKY to have a great number of players contracts up this December All these players contracts end December 31st, 2024 Bold for those eligible for free agency, assuming the precise numbers for salary. Jackson Yueill - 900,000 Jeremy Ebobisse - 859,478 Rodriguez - 650,000 Carlos Akapo - 550,000 Daniel - 425,000 JT Marcinkowski - 400,000 Will Yarbrough - 385,000 Alfredo Morales - 300,000 Tanner Beason - 300,000 Casey Walls - 200,000 Manny Ochoa - 160,000 Michael Baldisimo - 105,000 Will Richmond - 89,716 Tommy Thompson - 89,716 Preston Judd - 89,716 Daniel Munie - 71,401 Jamar Ricketts - 71,401 Jacob Jackson - 71,401 ------------------------------------------ Our total payroll for 2024 is 12,049,829 (This is without Hernan Lopez contract added in) I'd assume he's 1.5 million a year which brings our hit to 13,549,829 in salary it would put us ahead of a bunch of teams in terms of overall salary spent, granted I haven't factored in everyone's summer signings yet. Our payroll is comparable to (As of this day - 7-21-24) to Austin FC, Atlanta United, CF Montreal, Charlotte FC, Colorado Rapids, Columbus Crew, Minnesota United, Orlando City, Philadelphia, Portland Timbers, Real Salt Lake and St. Louis. All these teams are under 13 million. Chicago Fire pay 22 million plus in salary a year and they suck almost as bad as we do. So the money isn't exactly the only issue. We have a lot of folks in charge in the front office the run this team that don't have a crack whip idea of how to function correctly. We shed a lot of contracts last season that were up and I'm going to assume we will do the same this year to eliminate a bunch of the Almeyda an Luchi hangovers. But we have to wise to the players we're recruiting. We have to be very aggressive in free agency this off season. There's a lot of really good players eligible this year that could be key additions for depth or starting pieces.
I think there is an element of truth in this. You can succeed with a low budget and unsexy profile like the Quakes, but you have to build the scouting infrastructure to find great value and not simply rely on intermediaries who bring you pricey signings from Argentina and Mexico. I listened to Will Kuntz (who came to MLS via MLB, so has ~7 years of soccer experience) on a Galaxy podcast this past offseason and he seemed very knowledgeable about finding value in Asia, for instance - he talked about the Miki Yamane acquisition and how players in Japan are very cheap relative to their on-field value, their development system contrasted with the American pyramid, etc.
Yeah, we gotta get better at finding good value - that's the Moneyball proposition. That's how you can win with a lower budget. That and getting some value out of our academy. People say we haven't gotten anything out of it, but we sold Cade for $4M which made Hernán possible, we have Niko, JT (who at least is a quality backup), and now Verhoeven coming online, and maybe Cruz Medina also in the near future. I'm hoping the the guy we brought back from Montreal can help, Vassili Cremanzidis. He was around during that period around 2017 when we brought in a lot of intl players. Not all great but if he was involved in those moves at least he has experience with intl acquisitions and scouting, etc. Vassili Cremanzidis is the Head Sporting Strategist for the San Jose Earthquakes. His main role is to lead recruiting, scouting, roster management, salary cap, and team administration. He also manages the club's day-to-day activities and acts as the main contact with Major League Soccer (MLS). His professional career started in 2013 with CF Montreal (Montreal Impact at the time). From 2013 to 2015, he was the first team's performance analyst, analyzing video, statistics, and GPS metrics. Having been recruited by the San Jose Earthquakes for the start of the 2016 season, Vassili had a similar role as the first team's Scouting and Performance Analyst. By the end of his tenure in San Jose, he was the Head of Analysis and Associate Director of Player Personnel. In 2019, his career brought him back to his hometown of Montreal, where he quickly grew into the role he holds today. https://www.sportsmanagementworldwide.com/users/vassili-cremanzidis
Niko is going to bolt if we dont sell or trade him. Hes not a long term solution for us. People close to @falvo have ssid as much. Hes just biding time. Ochoa is another one whos gonna bolt. Walls is a lost cause.
